New research from the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (#JONAPWD), in partnership with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and with support from the @FordFoundation, has found that the digitalization of social protection programs in Nigeria has led to reduced access and inclusion for workers with disabilities. In their CEDAW reporting, several Asian governments including Malaysia and Thailand, have indicated that Type 1 #fgmc as practiced in the region is a harmless cultural practice. Presenting the practice in this way is a barrier to ending FGC and is contrary to the findings of our research and the experience of survivors. 📣𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧 Has demonstrated the power of networks in influencing policies and public investment for Early Childhood Development (ECD). Over the course of the campaign, there has been notable progress in raising awareness and prioritising ECD across political agendas in both individual countries and the EU. This success highlights the strength of collective efforts, with public bodies, civil society organisations, and experts working together to create a supportive environment for babies, young children and their families, particularly those whose rights are at risk. Key lessons from the campaign include the importance of building coalitions, cross-sector collaboration, and adopting a comprehensive approach to ECD.
