As San Antonio continues to grow at an incredible pace, we must not overlook the challenges within our education system. Through my participation in the Master Leadership Program Class of 21, I’ve had the opportunity to gain deeper exposure to the struggles faced by students, parents, and educators alike. The gaps in resources and support are real, and we have to do better. Our city’s future success depends on how well we address these issues. Programs like St. Philip’s College Culinary Arts students and restaurant, and Southwest Legacy High School’s arts-focused initiatives show how investing in education can shape the future workforce and elevate our community. But we need more. We must ensure that students are not only equipped to succeed in high school and college but also prepared for careers beyond. To continue thriving as one of the fastest-growing cities, public education must be a priority for our elected officials from school trustees to state representatives and senators. It’s essential that we vote for leaders who are committed to supporting students, educators, and parents. Only then can we truly build a future where every student has the opportunity to succeed beyond the classroom. CBMC Young Professionals Spotlight: Matt Knauer shares a valuable lesson learned at our Wexford team this morning: "One of the ways we can be different is to take time to really get to know those we work with. Our full presence to others is a way good to serve others." This morning's mentorship principles from Kevin Delaney, Pastor Mountain Brook Community Church and Board member Emeals Inc. How to gain true influence: 1. Humility: Build others up. How do you turn others loose to their passions? 2. Selflessness: Put the spotlight on others. 3. Consider interests of others in decision making: Create Margin to get to know others. Be curious about people. Listen. 4. Sacrifice: We naturally think of ourselves everyday. Transfer that to someone else. 5. Love others Well: They will know if you care. Suggested Reading: Philippians 2:3-4 "Lead for God's Sake" by Todd Gongwer
