DIESEL MECHANIC WANTED SALDANHA BAY, WESTERN CAPE REFERENCE NUMBER: 6001124DIESA Exciting opportunity available for a resilient candidate who can solve problems with out-of-the-box thinking MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use diagnostic tools and software effectively Ability to work independently and in a team setting Education: Relevant technical or mechanical qualification/certification Experience working with fleet management systems Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with trucks, trailers, or heavy-duty vehicles Familiarity with various truck and trailer brands and models (MAN & Volvo) Good understanding of safety regulations for commercial vehicles Physical ability to handle heavy tools and perform manual repairs Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and fixing issues Strong attention to detail Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, electrical systems, and repairs Valid driver’s license, preferably with a heavy vehicle license (Code 14 or equivalent) Welding and fabrication skills DUTEIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adhere to company policies regarding health, safety, and environmental regulations Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the vehicles meet all safety regulations Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software Keep the workshop clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety guidelines Maintain accurate service records and log repairs for each vehicle Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts and tools, ordering replacements as required Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and other heavy vehicles in the fleet Repair or replace faulty components, including brakes, engines, suspensions, and transmission systems Respond to breakdowns and provide emergency repairs on-site or on the road when necessary Troubleshoot issues with vehicle performance and suggest improvements or upgrades when necessary Work closely with the operations team to ensure the availability of roadworthy vehicles GENERAL The above mentioned duties reflect the position’s essential functions but does not contain all of the tasks that will be assigned.
