Getting away for some well-earned rest is a classic post we all see on LinkedIn. But it can be a real struggle to get back into the rhythm of work once you are back from sipping Margaritas in the sunshine. I'll admit I've had more productive weeks than this week... Here are a few things I will look to implement next time to have a more productive post-holiday week... 🎯 Get together a to-do list before I go away. Things may change during the week you go away, but having a list of things ready to go will remind you of what you were working on before leaving and let you hit the ground running. 🎯 Tie up any loose ends. There's nothing worse than being thrown straight into the middle of urgent project work, so make sure you have any big jobs tied off before you travel. This isn't always possible of course, but I will make a concerted effort to make sure I do this before I go away next. 🎯 Book a WFH day for your first day back. This isn't always possible without some flexibility in the workspace, but going from beers on the beach to the office within 24 hours isn't much fun. Ease yourself back into the week with a day working from home, meaning fewer office distractions and an opportunity to get that dreaded holiday clothes wash done.

The routine for returning back to the office after a holiday break: - Become disoriented on what day it is - Talk about what you did (or didn't do) on holiday break - Think every day is Friday until it actually is Friday - Slowly transition from holiday mode to work mode... with lots of coffee - Start planning your next break #BackToWork #HolidayBreak #SimpleLife

I'm back to the office for the first day after two glorious weeks in France. Where do you start looking at your emails from time out of the office: from the day you left or the day you get back? The two things that help me stay focused and balanced around vacation are: 1) Building in a day on the tail end for easing back into work -- skimming emails and VM, getting a sense of what's waiting for me and what's the most urgent, etc.; and 2) Developing my To Do list for my first week back before I leave. Julie Cohen taught me the easing in trick, and I find it really helpful. #vacationmode #backtowork #organization #worklifebalance

Taking a vacation should be a time to unwind and recharge, but many of us struggle to fully disconnect from work. Jolen Anderson highlights the importance of vacations not just for reducing stress but also for boosting productivity and workplace satisfaction. However, a survey by Elvtr found that a significant percentage of people still work while on vacation, driven by feelings of anxiety about not checking emails. By implementing the strategies Lily Meier lists, we can take more effective vacations, allowing them to fully recharge and return to work with renewed energy and focus. #Vacation #Recharge #Stress

Working Between Christmas and New Year: A Hidden Opportunity? 🗓️ As the holiday period winds down, the week between Christmas and New Year often feels like a “no man’s land.” Offices are quieter, email inboxes less crowded, and many contacts are still on holiday. Whilst it is important to grab the opportunities to rest and recharge, some choose to return work, even if only for a couple of days here and there. I’ve found that there are unique advantages to being part of the latter group. For starters, it’s a great opportunity to focus on deeper work without the usual interruptions. Whether it’s planning for the year ahead, tackling a project that’s been sitting on the back burner, or simply clearing out your inbox, the slower pace can allow incredible productivity. 📈 It’s also a chance to reflect. With fewer meetings and distractions, I find myself able to think strategically about both personal and professional goals. And let’s not overlook how reconnecting with clients or teammates who are also working during this period can strengthen relationships in an unexpectedly meaningful way. But it’s not just about productivity, there’s a certain peace in these quieter days that’s hard to find at other times of the year. What about you? 🔹Are you working this week or taking time off? 🔸If you’re working, what’s your strategy for making the most of the downtime? 🔹And if you’re relaxing, how are you setting yourself up to hit the ground running in January? 👂I’d love to hear your thoughts—let’s keep the conversation going! #Productivity #Returntowork #Holidays #NewYearPlanning

As I sit at my desk, sipping a warm cup of coffee, I can't help but smile at the sound of rain tapping on my window. Working from home has its perks, especially during the rainy season. Imagine this: no more getting drenched while commuting, no more traffic jams, and no more soggy shoes. Here are some fun reasons why working remotely is the best, especially when it's pouring outside. The best part about working from home during the rainy season is staying dry and cozy. There's no need to brave the rain with an umbrella that’s more likely to turn inside out. Instead, you can stay in your comfy clothes, wrap yourself in a warm blanket, and enjoy the rain from the comfort of your home. When you work from home, you save a lot of time and energy. No more long commutes or waiting for public transport. You can use that extra time to enjoy a longer breakfast, read a book, or even get a head start on your workday. Working from home lets you enjoy the little things that make rainy days special. You can take breaks to watch the rain, sip on your favorite hot beverage, and even light a scented candle. These small joys can make your workday much more pleasant. So, next time it rains, just remember the perks of working from home. Stay dry, stay cozy, and enjoy the sound of the rain while you work! Happy rainy season! #freelancing #virtualassistant #contentcreator #workfromhome
