Let me nuance a point more clearly. I mentioned that "...if prices drop, reduce production". This point still holds as it includes reducing supply to your current market and redirecting to other/new markets willing to pay more than breakeven. I am well aware that for highly commercial farms, reducing production is not favourable as it can take twice as much effort to get production back up after a loss in "momement". For smaller farmers, reducing stocking densities and getting efficient in feeding will reduce your cost of production reasonably and you can still make decent margins with lower production but there's a price level that even free feeds won't make you any money. price appropriately.
