My grandfather narrowly escaped the horrors of the Holocaust, arriving in Australia in 1938 as a teenager sent from Poland with one brother and one sister. Many of his siblings (it was a large family) and extended family were not so fortunate. Today, on Yom Hashoah, we solemnly remember the six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust, commemorating the victims and honouring the (few remaining) survivors, vowing to never forget. I don't know about you, but my ancestors sure as hell didn't die for me to live in fear and persecution. Recent events since October 7th, the brutal attack on Israel by Hamas rapist terrorists, the 133 hostages still mercilessly held in Gaza for 7 months, and the concerning rise of anti-Semitism all over the world, including the occupation of university campuses around the US and incidents of racist agitators in Australia, Europe and elsewhere, serve as a stark reminder of the persistent threats faced by the Jewish community. As we pray for the safe return of those held captive, let us reaffirm our commitment to unity and vigilance in the face of adversity, ensuring that the promise of "Never Again" remains unwavering. If you haven't yet seen this powerful speech given by the Israeli Ambassador to the General Assembly at the UN last week, do yourself a favour and watch it. It's worth the 20 minutes in gold. Now, more than ever, we need to unite in our resolve to combat hatred, intolerance, and injustice wherever it may arise. This includes from the very chambers of the UN. It's imperative that we engage in setting the facts straight, education, awareness, and proactive measures to combat this age-old bigotry - anti-Semitism = the oldest hatred in the world. Let peace, tolerance, and human dignity prevail. #YomHashoah #NeverAgain #NEVERAGAINISNOW #BringThemHome #Solidarity #Peace #Antisemitism #Holocaust #Zionism #Education https://lnkd.in/dS7FZhMk

A LEGACY OF BETRAYAL: ISRAEL'S TREATMENT of PALESTINIANS The world is well aware of the tumultuous history surrounding the creation of Israel. Following World War II, the Palestinian people, in a gesture of kindness and hospitality, welcomed Jewish refugees fleeing persecution by Adolf Hitler. However, this act of goodwill was met with ingratitude and aggression. Instead of coexisting peacefully, Israel has consistently sought to expand its territory, displacing and marginalizing the Palestinian population in the process. The international community, particularly the United States, has largely turned a blind eye to these injustices, providing unwavering support to Israel's territorial claims. It's unconscionable that the world remains complacent as Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes, destroy livelihoods, and erode their fundamental human rights. The silence is deafening, and it's imperative that we acknowledge the historical wrongs perpetrated against the Palestinian people and demand justice and accountability. Today, we solemnly remember the victims of the Holodomor, the man-made famine of 1932-33, when millions of Ukrainians were deliberately starved to death in a genocidal campaign orchestrated by Stalin’s regime. This atrocity was not just an attack on the lives of innocent men, women, and children, but an attempt to erase Ukraine’s identity, culture, and freedom. Tragically, history repeats itself. Today, Russia continues its brutal campaign to wipe Ukraine and Ukrainians from the face of the earth, using war, terror, and propaganda to achieve its aims. Yet, just as our ancestors resisted, preserved their identity, and sowed the seeds of a free and independent Ukraine, we too will endure and overcome. Ukrainian spirit remains unbreakable. We honor the victims of the Holodomor not only by remembering their suffering but by standing strong in defense of truth, justice, and freedom for future generations. Our unity, resilience, and determination will ensure that Ukraine prevails—then, now, and always. #Holodomor #WeRemember #UkraineWillPrevail

It seems that we need a new definition of peace..... first there must be a ceasefire and truce, this part is political and a matter of negotiation. After this is achieved, it are the ordinary civilians who have to develop mutual understanding by non-violent interaction and dialog with each other, this is the fundamental basis of developing empathy. From this point, the path of peace brings replacement of fear and hatred by trust and solidary. The end is that there is sustainability of the peace and that conflicts are resolved forever. www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

If they truly believed they were God Almightys "Chosen," they wouldn't be this cowardly. Yahya Sinwar fought with defiance until his last breath, never cowering in the tunnels as Israel falsely claimed—lies to justify the slaughter of civilians. Unlike Netanyahu, who receives applause in U.S. Congress while orchestrating mass murder from a place of safety, Sinwar stood on the frontlines. He was born a refugee, condemned by a world that celebrates his oppressor, and died a martyr. his legacy is a direct challenge to the global hypocrisy that shields Israeli brutality!

In times of conflict, the true strength of a nation is revealed not just through the bravery of its soldiers, but in the unity of its people. Today, our hearts weigh heavily as we reflect on the hostages taken from their homes, enduring unimaginable hardships far from their loved ones. They are parents, children, friends—each one dearly missed and deeply loved. At this critical juncture, we call on everyone, irrespective of personal beliefs or background, to unite with a singular focus on the immediate, safe return of all hostages to Israel. This moment transcends political divisions; it is about human empathy and the resilient spirit of our community under duress. Let's set aside political discussions and rally together, bound by our collective hope for their safe return and for peace. Our unified voice can send a powerful message of solidarity and strength in the face of adversity. Together, we can strive for a future where every life is cherished and safeguarded. #BringThemHome #Unity #Peace #StandTogether #EndConflict #SupportIsrael #GlobalPeace #NoToViolence #HumanRights #HostagesSafety
