Reflecting on a Remarkable Year at BPCC! 🇬🇧🇵🇹 Yesterday, we held our AGM at BPCC - British Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, reflecting on our achievements and key milestones from the past year. Despite navigating the challenges of rising inflation, high interest rates and the lingering effects of COVID-19, we successfully hosted 60 diverse events, averaging more than one per week. These events included business networking events, brainstorming lunches, business breakfasts, webinars, training sessions, lunch debates, trade missions, trade fairs, and workshops, encompassing all regions of the country. Highlights included the Future of Cities Summit, which has become a hallmark event, and numerous high-profile debates, showcasing our commitment to fostering dialogue on crucial topics. Our adaptability and resilience were on full display as we expanded our digital presence, launched a podcast page for members, and engaged in successful trade missions and international events. We also celebrated the spirit of community through events like the Annual Summer Garden Party, BPCC's Gala Dinner or our Corporate Lunch. As we look ahead, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our loyal members, Directors, and the dedicated BPCC team. Thanks to Ms. Diane Quarless, Director of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) subregional headquarters for the Caribbean, for inviting me to participate, as a chair of the Executive Committee of Statistical Conference of the Americas (SCA), in a virtual expert group meeting on Wednesday 26 June to examine issues related to the production and international compilation of statistics on key sustainable development issues for associate member countries (AMCs) of ECLAC. I have the opportunity to address the closing remarks to the participants sharing 3 main points on how the #SCA can help us to strengthen the relationship with the Caribbean region. 1. SCA is the best countries forum to strengthen the leadership of the region in the multilateral level. 2. The process to elaborate a new strategic plan give us the opportunity to stablish specific topics to work together. 3.
