Many in-house PR people recognize that announcements alone aren’t a strategy. We also understand that not every announcement is press-worthy, worth pitching, or merits wire distribution. However, I often see a disconnect in how agencies and PR consultants view announcements. It’s important to remember that they often serve different audiences—not just the press. I personally write all announcements in-house and never outsource them to agencies, nor do I ask agencies to pitch announcements without press value.
