Emissions from burning fossil fuels are damaging our health. A transition away from fossil fuels is not only possible – it’s crucial for our future. #HealthForAll must come before profits for the few. #COP29
Fossil fuel pollution is not just an environmental issue, it is also a social justice issue. The most vulnerable people are often the most affected. We need a just energy transition that leaves no one behind. #COP29 must deliver bold decisions for a better future.
Emissions from fossil fuels are poisoning our planet, harming our health, and threatening our future. The good news is, a greener future is within reach! Embracing renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, we can breathe cleaner air, protect our environment, and build a sustainable world for generations to come. Let's take action, invest in clean energy, and create a healthier planet for all. Every small step towards sustainability makes a big difference. Together, let's choose a future powered by clean energy and a healthy planet!
This is the hidden cost of fossil fuels, with millions suffering in silence. We can do better for our future.
There are several environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuels, including biofuels like biodiesel, bioethanol, and biogas, which are derived from organic materials and waste. Hydrogen, particularly green hydrogen, is a clean fuel that produces water as its only byproduct. Renewable electricity powers electric vehicles and systems, while synthetic fuels (e-fuels) and methanol offer carbon-neutral options for industries like aviation and shipping. Ammonia, when produced using renewable energy, is a promising zero-carbon fuel for heavy industries. Emerging solutions like algae-based fuels and solar fuels show potential for sustainable energy production, and compressed air technology provides clean energy storage and transport options. Together, these alternatives highlight the possibilities for a greener, more sustainable energy future.
Burning fossil fuels not only harms our planet but disproportionately affects the health of vulnerable communities, including women and children in Muslim-majority regions. As we advocate for justice and equity in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), we must also address the environmental injustices that exacerbate these inequalities. A transition to sustainable energy isn’t just an environmental imperative—it’s a moral obligation rooted in justice and care for humanity. Let’s center #HealthForAll and demand bold actions at #COP29 that prioritize the well-being of people over profit. Together, we can build a healthier and more equitable future. 🌍✊ #GenderJustice #SRHR #ClimateJustice #FaithInAction"
The health risks from burning fossil fuels are a serious global problem. Moving to renewable energy sources is not only possible, but also necessary. By embracing renewable energy, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and create a healthier planet for future generations. It's time to prioritize sustainable energy solutions that benefit both people and the planet. Let's work together to build a cleaner, greener future. #HealthForAll #COP29 #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy
Addressing the health impacts of fossil fuel emissions is not just an environmental issue—it’s a public health imperative. The transition to sustainable energy sources is both a moral and practical necessity, ensuring healthier lives and a more equitable future. At #COP29, let’s prioritize collective well-being over short-term profits and demonstrate that a greener planet benefits us all. #HealthForAll isn't just a goal; it’s the foundation for sustainable progress.
Thank you World Health Organization for sharing this important post, I support this message completely! I’d love to share this deck attached below with anyone interested? Perhaps we can collaborate on making action happen to better support the message being shared? We offer a place at the Community of Guardians where we can shine a spotlight on the people who champion sustainability! A place to give science and traditional knowledge experts a place to share thier work in plain language with members who are eager to learn and start taking action that supports sustainability! 3wIf anyone thinks fossil fuel emmissons aren't dangerous. I'd have to ask them if they'd willingly stand in a closed garage with a car running in it. I've noticed that communites that support walking and biking tend to more calm and engaged in their area. They move at their own pace and see the litter, they see the shrub that grew over the sidewalk that needed trimming, they see the little things that they can improve on. It also takes a few people to go out and show everyone how it's done. Not to talk at them or explain, not for any highfives, just to show and be an icebreaker. Recovering what froze over. The main pushback comes from the assumtion that all the cars, trucks, pavement, and petroleum based beauty products will completely vanish instead of just becoming something else.
