It's #IronDeficiencyDay. Iron is essential for keeping us healthy. It brings oxygen to our blood cells, helps convert food into energy and enables us to maintain a normal immune system. However, both too little and too much iron can harm the body, potentially causing arrhythmias or blood pressure issues. Up to 50% of heart failure patients have #IronDeficiency—a common yet often overlooked issue, especially in chronic conditions. Screening heart failure patients for iron deficiency is simple and can significantly improve their quality of life. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dT3kDng6

BOS is a severe, irreversible condition that affects the small airways of the lungs, often following lung transplants or certain environmental exposures. Early signs include shortness of breath, dry cough, and fatigue. Thanks to research, treatments can slow its progression, making early diagnosis crucial. If you've undergone a lung transplant or been exposed to harmful chemicals, stay vigilant for respiratory symptoms and consult your doctor. #BOS #LUNG #LungHealth #Zambon #Researchmatters

RADIATION POISONING Acute radiation syndrome (ARS), also known as radiation sickness or radiation poisoning, is a collection of health effects that are caused by being exposed to high amounts of ionizing radiation in a short period of time. Symptoms can start within an hour of exposure, and can last for several months. Early symptoms are usually nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. In the following hours or weeks, initial symptoms may appear to improve, before the development of additional symptoms, after which either recovery or death follow. (Source:Internet)

A condition in which the blood doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells.Anemia results from a lack of red blood cells or dysfunctional red blood cells in the body. This leads to reduced oxygen flow to the body's organs. With anemia, the heart must pump more blood to make up for too little oxygen in the blood. This can lead to an enlarged heart or heart failure. Death. Some inherited anemias, such as sickle cell anemia, can lead to life-threatening complications. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #snsdesignthinking

#sciencesunday The resurgence of COVID: A Redox Disease When we thought we had finally put COVID to bed we have had a summer resurgence. Scientist now believe that COVID disrupts the body's redox balance. Redox balance is central to the functioning of all our organ systems and this may explain why COVID causes such widespread systemic health problems. It follows that restoring the body's redox balance may be a good way to tackle the effects of COVID. For those who want to dig deeper into this, the article below explores the redox imbalance COVID scenario. https://lnkd.in/eceg7q5m #COVID #redoximbalance

Muscle strengthening activities, like resistance and weight training, lower rates of chronic disease and death by any cause. Surprisingly, an optimal benefit can be achieved in just 30-60 minutes a week, but going over 140 minutes a week might be counterproductive. Mixing different training styles and intensities is likely best for longevity. PMID: 37725296
