Friday Arts … the world is still not improving, so let’s keep talking about other things that are more fun! Springboard Opera had its first night out last weekend. And what a night it was. The first ever Springboard Opera Gala in fabulous Brisbane. And in the spirit of doing it differently, it was opera, but not opera. Some, but not all, of the Springboard Opera young (and talented) human beans were introduced to Brisbane in a fabulous star-studded night of music, theatre and general cool-ness. If you missed out, you’ll have to wait for the next Springboard Thing. And because no man is an island – thanks for the words, John Donne – we are not so much creating an arts organisation as a 21st century Arts Ecosystem that thrives on innovation. Ecosystems imply lots of interconnectedness. Between all the parts. Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. So the innovation needs to flow Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. And to make this work, all those parts matter equally. One of the things that was said at the Gala was “Singing optional”. That is because we need skills and INNOVATION everywhere. And with that – a bit of fractured Dr Suess, this time – Oh, the places We’ll go! If you are up for a bit of Amazeballs stuff… Come down and see us at https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg – it is going to be WILD! Friday Arts. #Springboardopera …reinvents opera experiences for all, in unexpected, inspiring ways whilst providing a platform through which emerging artists can advance their craft. Believing in the transformative value of music, we aim to unite performers and audiences alike in productions that benefit all involved. And how is that relevant in a business forum like LinkedIn? Weel, mainly because, when it is filtered down, Springboard is about innovation and changing the paradigm that is an arts business. If we are going to deliver on our mission, a new type of arts organisation is going to be needed. All the things that relate to a C21 business model apply, but especially things like engaging with stakeholders, transformational thinking, integrated end-to-end solutions, leadership and social licence. To support emerging artists, is there a better way than relying on Government for ongoing funding? Or is there a different way to think about sustainable funding? To bring opera to a wider range of audiences, we need to engage in different ways. Opera in unexpected, inspiring ways… in ways that connect to contemporary audiences in a VUCA world. Opera and the arts generally live an operate in the same VUCA world as, well, the rest of the world. So why should it be any different building a resilient and sustainable organisation in the arts space as opposed to in another business space? This is the other side of “reinventing opera experiences”. We cannot reinvent the opera experience without reinventing the arts organisation behind it. This is Springboard Opera … if you connect with these ideas, jump over to our website https://lnkd.in/gS53GYEN, and become a friend or get involved. #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife Luisa Tarnawski Leslie Martin Gheorja Haidley

Springboard Opera, the coolest arts startup on the Brisbane scene, is ready to meet the world… An arts lunch at The Brisbane Club, Brisbane’s premier Business and Arts Club was our first foray into the world. At the Brisbane Club, the intersection of Arts and Business in the Rivercity. And as we all know, Brisvegas … the exploding arts heartland in Oz! It was really appropriate that the Brisbane Club was the venue. The guiding words for Springboard are Supporting emerging artists & Transforming the Opera Idea. Transforming the Opera Idea is about re-invention, innovation and all those other really cool C21 words that we talk about so much. And for Springboard, that means transforming the back end of the arts as much as the front end. And why would we try any other way? If we are serious about sustainability (which we are…) and credibility with all our stakeholders (ditto…), and properly supporting our amazing emerging Queensland Artists, well, the transformation needs to go right across the organisation. Or, in the case of Springboard, we have set ourselves up in the way we intend to continue. From the book-keeping to front-of-house, from the board to the volunteers at the workface, we are going to do it differently. There is not enough space here to tell the whole story. If you want to see us in action or get involved with something big, check out our events page. This is Springboard Opera … if you’re up for a 21st century adventure, up for creating something new, exciting and paradigm-busting to support young people, jump over to our website https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg, and get involved. Here's my article on Serena Brancale at Locus Festival, read it on Raandoom.com!
A deep connection to the southern Italian roots and the ability to blend jazzy, nu-soul, and funky grooves encapsulate the essence of Serena Brancale’s artistic identity, and she showcased all of this in her latest show in Fasano. ✒️ Anitamaria Resta

GERMANY 101 : CULTURAL SENSITIZATION SERIES BY SKIVAGA "NEVER BE LATE." According to one old GERMAN saying: “Five minutes ahead of TIME, is a German’s punctuality.” In Germany, time is not just of the essence—it's practically sacred. Deadlines, appointments, timetables, and dates are treated like solemn oaths. Being late isn't just frowned upon; it's like breaking a pinky promise. Unless, of course, you have a spectacular excuse worthy of a soap opera plot twist. #GermanHospitality #CareerOpportunity #LimitedSlots #EuropeanHospitality #DreamCareer #ExclusiveHotels #DynamicIndustry #HospitalityJobs #LuxuryExperience #ManagementRoles #HotelCareers #JoinUsNow #skivaga #skilledvagabonds

Earlier this month Arts Council England put out a 115-page document (Ross from Friends - "front and back"!) analysing the state of opera in the UK's biggest nation. The headline-grabbing part of it is the section where the authors express criticism about how many of the most performed works between 2017 and 2023 are by Puccini, Verdi, Mozart or Bizet, i.e. older works from the classic canon. That means, they say ominously, that opera “may find it harder to make an argument for its continued evolution as a cultural practice”. In The Times I argue that not only the methodology is flawed here, but so is the agenda. No operagoers - the general public - were actually consulted for this report. And while it's convenient to blame an ageing or conservative audience for the reliance on core parts of the repertoire, it isn’t borne out by the evidence. Go on to TikTok (before they ban it), search for “opera” and it’s La traviata, Carmen and The Magic Flute that soundtrack the most-watched operatic memes. A clip from the Royal Opera House of The Magic Flute has more than two million likes. Accessibility is supposed to be a watchword of the Arts Council, so what’s wrong with regularly offering audiences the most accessible works? #opera #artsandculture #letscreate https://lnkd.in/dM9FqUAk

Can you really shatter glass with just your voice? 🎶 Using Altair’s OptiStruct, we simulated whether a trained opera singer, hitting notes up to 100 dB and within a range of 250-1,500 Hz, could break a crystal wine glass at its resonant frequency. Find out if sound alone is powerful enough: https://bit.ly/3XQCZDS #Simulation #OnlyForward
