As fall arrives and summer fades. I am excited for Community, Education and Coming together! This is where my focus is going for Fall. Fall has always been a time of "New Beginnings" or "New Adventures". I would love to have you join me in these new adventures. My goal going forward. My new Adventure, is Discovering, Celebrating and Engaging what makes each of us unique and showing people how to use that uniqueness to do good the way only you can do the way you do with the skills you have. You see, I believe that respecting and celebrating our differences doesn't make us LESS! instead they make us STRONGER together! It's the best way to demonstrate how we all have value. I am excited to share opportunities together to engage our Imaginations as we make the world better. What cause could you use your Unique Abilities to support? ( not sure? Leave me a comment. Let’s find out together). What needs do you see in the world that you want to solve? (not sure you can accomplish it alone? Let’s chat. I have a community for you). I hope you will join me on this Adventure! Watch this space! I will be sharing Downloads for you to get inspired and involved! I will also share a community that will support you in your adventure As well as offer programs for you to deepen your learning about ways to make an impact, if your not sure where you want to start. https://lnkd.in/g226Wbkk

Exciting News for Inclusive Higher Education! I am beyond humbled and grateful to share that the CrossingPoints Program at the University of Alabama has been selected as the 5th pilot program to undergo national accreditation by the Inclusive Higher Education Accreditation Council (IHEAC). This momentous step highlights just how far IPSE programs have come in such a short time. Inclusive postsecondary education programs (IPSE) for students with intellectual disabilities are still relatively new—just a little over a decade old. To now have a national accrediting body with set standards is nothing short of groundbreaking! Being part of this process means that we at CrossingPoints will contribute to shaping the future of IPSE program accreditation, ensuring that these life-changing opportunities continue to grow and thrive. And hey, on a lighter note: CrossingPoints will soon (hopefully!) be the 5th accredited IPSE program in the country, the FIRST in the SEC, and the FIRST in Alabama. I mean, it is football season, so... Roll Tide, right? 😉 #InclusiveEducation #CrossingPoints #DisabilityAdvocacy #RollTide
Please join us in congratulating our 5th and final pilot site, the CrossingPoints Program at The University of Alabama. “We are so excited to embark on this journey and look forward to piloting the program accreditation process,” said Dr. Kagendo Mutua, CrossingPoints Executive Director. “Our program helps students achieve their academic and career goals, and we want to tell that incredible story of success.”#InclusiveHigherEd #RollTide 👏 🏈 https://lnkd.in/gCmEzD3X

We need more diverse voices shaping decisions at the highest level. But how do you get started? Many aspiring board members, especially minorities, aren’t sure where to begin. Alongside Raymond Watt and Florian Kemmerich in YPO, I discuss the importance of being board-ready and building the right networks to secure that first opportunity. Your first board seat is closer than you think: https://lnkd.in/ecmj-hgJ #BoardDiversity #BoardMatters

Success isn’t a solo journey—it’s deeply rooted in the community around us. While it’s essential to celebrate our own victories, it's equally important to uplift and recognize the achievements of those around us—whether they’re clients, family, friends, or colleagues. Our personal and professional success is often tied to the connections we nurture, and by celebrating the wins of others, we foster a culture of encouragement and collaboration. When we lift each other up, we not only strengthen our relationships but also create a ripple effect that inspires more success. We build trust, camaraderie, and a support system that empowers everyone to thrive. That’s why it’s so critical to embrace a mindset of celebration for both ourselves and the community around us. So today, I encourage you to take a moment to recognize someone in your network who has achieved something great. Let’s fill the comments with stories of success—whether it’s a recent promotion, a milestone achieved, or a personal victory. Share their story, celebrate their win, and let’s continue to build a culture of shared growth and support. Who’s someone you want to celebrate today? Let’s lift each other up.

Strengthening Pathways and Exit Credential Transcript – Successful Futures Over many years and countless conversations and meetings with tertiary education providers and industry leaders, it became evident that employers were looking for more than just a strong academic record from prospective employees. Time and time again, high level attendance, Duke of Edinburgh award recipients, demonstrated leadership, public speaking, involvement in charity/voluntary work, Gazelle Project Management skills, participation in sport, cultural engagement, part-time employment, mentoring and coaching others and engagement in activities outside of school were all very highly valued. These requirements became known at Plumpton High School as Exit Credentials. To this end, the leadership team at Plumpton High School set about putting in place our Strengthening Pathways Framework and opportunity after opportunity for all of our students to select how they could contribute to not only their own development but to the growth and improvement of our school and our broader community/society. Out of this was born, the Exit Credential Transcript, an annual and official document presented to every student from Year 7 to Year 12 outlining their efforts and contributions within the Strengthening Pathways Framework. The Exit Credential Transcript is a record, that is tracked out of the Futures Centre, and gives every student the opportunity to create their personal brand. What is included in an Exit Credential is entirely within the power of the individual to customise to their strengths and interests. By the completion of Year 12, every student will have 6 Exit Credential Transcripts to present to prospective employees, to use in scholarship applications and to include in University entry processes. To date in 2024, we have recorded 1200 separate entries of student accomplishment and contributions. We are so invested in your FUTURE. What a great place to be! What will you do next toward your Exit Credential Transcript? Thank you to Gemma Avon, Priyanka Karan and Carolyn Langham in our Futures Centre for the incredible work they have undertaken in bringing our incredible framework to life that is securing our students bright and successful futures.
