Just an observation. We buy these Panera Bread soups at BJ's Wholesale Club. The package lists the weight as 48 ounces = 3 pounds = 1.36kg. However, most people don't weigh their soup. They tend to measure by volume - in the US it would be in Cups. Many people are tracking their calorie consumption. We can measure it ourself or rely in the manufacturer. I recommend measuring yourself. Why? This package says there are About 6 servings at 1 cup each at 240 grams per serving. The entire package actually contains about 5 1/2 cups of soup BUT they measured it by weight not volume. 6 servings at 245 grams = 1,470 grams while the package contains 1,360 grams about 110 grams less. While that may not seem like a lot, and some may feel its no big deal there is a difference. An example of a slight difference consumers probably dont notice - in servings and calories but legal because they say "about 6 servings". Is it right? #customerexperience #consumer

The prospect of losing a key account can be a daunting one, so how can roasters handle these situations? In today’s article, Matthew Hill speaks to Anne Cooper, a consultant at Equilibrium Masters Roasters, and Christopher Gaag, Director of Tribe Coffee, to find out more. #PerfectDailyGrind #CoffeeRoasting #WholesaleCoffee 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/dr634qzr

Growing a coffee wholesale program is harder than ever. When I started out in coffee in 2002, being the local brand that cared about freshness and shared information on origin was enough to keep your inbox full of local grocery chains and restaurants wanting to buy your coffee. I experienced these halcyon days with Gorilla Coffee. But after selling Gorilla and starting Supercrown Coffee Roasters in 2015, I noticed a change in the wholesale coffee game. We seemed to be doing everything right - the press heralded us, we had a great staff and innovative coffee bar, and plenty of potential wholesale accounts in the neighborhood. But the landscape was different. There was SO MUCH MORE competition. Almost 10 years later, this is truer than ever. "Our biggest need right now is getting more wholesale customers and overall market penetration." This sentiment echoes throughout the coffee industry, from emerging brands to established ones, as I encounter similar statements on a weekly basis. Let me tell you, though. It's not impossible for coffee brands to build market share. It just takes an understanding of where your differentiation lies and a sales strategy that goes for it. I’m happy to share my experience and thoughts on building a profitable wholesale business today. DM me any time. 🤓 Here’s a picture of a typical cupping we did for new accounts. The fun stuff. #specialtycoffee #coffeebusiness #coffeesales

Does it make sense to have packaging specific to individual retailers? It depends! Take these Columbus Craft Meats turkey burgers at Costco Wholesale. The paperboard boxes look great but throw them in an unprinted RSC that the Costco employee has to cut open with a blade so it can be displayed in the freezer. Good? Bad? The burgers are 🔥 🔥 BTW #boldtsmithpackagingconsultants #packagingoptimization #packaging #costco
