Many walk in darkened worlds void of contacts,
Existing in isolation yet rub shoulders with us every day,
They are in our midst yet blend into the background.
Merely shadows in the crowd.
Often the life and soul at a party.
The clown we take for granted.
Yet the one who goes home alone.
Just to return to be behind closed doors,
Yet yearning for company, for understanding
For a friendly knock on the door.
So close yet kept at arms length.
One simple act of recognition can bring light to their world of isolation.
A smile in their direction, a simple Hello.
This gesture can start a conversation.
To bring involvement, to bring that feeling of being wanted, of interest again.
No one should be alone.
We all have something to give.
Journeys can start again,
Acceptance regained.
Enable membership of the team,
The team of humanity
Where all have a right to be and rightfully belong.
