**8TH ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION PROGRAMME / Member states agree on roadmap 🌍📄**
On June 17, representatives of the EU's Twenty-Seven Member States agreed on the lessons from the mid-term evaluation of the 8th Environmental Action Programme, valid until 2030. This roadmap, intended for the next European Commission, contains a long list of desired actions on various environmental topics. The Commission is expected to respond by March 2025.
🔹 **Main Axes of the Roadmap:**
- **Circular economy**: Promoting sustainability by reusing, repairing, and recycling products.
- **Water management 💧**: Improving the quality and availability of water resources.
- **Adaptation and just transition**: Supporting communities and industries for a fair ecological transition.
🔹 **Next Steps:**
- **Revision of Priority Actions**: Updates planned as needed, a provision introduced in 2021 to ensure continuity with the Green Deal.
- **New Proposal from the European Commission**: Expected within the first hundred days of the next executive, as expressed by German Minister Steffi Lemke.
This plan aims to ensure that the EU stays on track to achieve its environmental goals by 2030, adapting its priorities to address emerging challenges.
