Another 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries’ - This is a terrifying statement that highlights the importance of road safety. In 1970, community members in New Hope, Minnesota, joined with faith-based partners to establish People Responding in Social Ministry (PRISM, Golden Valley MN) to help neighbors struggling with food insecurity. What began as a small shed of essentials in New Hope has grown into a resource serving a larger community area, stretching into Plymouth, Crystal, New Hope, Robbinsdale, and Golden Valley. PRISM’s mission is to provide social services and connections that empower people to build healthy, stable lives. Programs include the Marketplace Food Shelf, housing assistance, Shop for Change thrift store, and children’s programs offering birthday party supplies, a Holiday Toy Shoppe, and back-to-school items. As food insecurity rises, PRISM remains a crucial resource. Before the pandemic, 1 in 11 families faced hunger; today, it’s 1 in 6. Despite these challenges, PRISM treats every participant with dignity and compassion, providing vital services while honoring the resilience of the individuals they serve. Grenfell Tower- what’s your legacy? We have waited a very long time for the Grenfell Tower inquiry phase 2 report, but the wait for the bereaved and survivors has been excruciating.  Grenfell is forgotten in many people’s minds, I've had multiple conversations over the last 12 months, when stakeholders have commented 'what happened at Grenfell was extraordinary’, and that they thought 'Grenfell was finished'. We are far from finished. Grenfell is a story of complete disregard for other human life, a lack of basic humanity for our fellow mankind and those who need us to stand up and protect them. It's the human rights scandal of our lifetime. The right to a safe home, the rights of the children, the rights of the elderly and those most vulnerable.   We left our most vulnerable to perish in the most appalling circumstances. We have left generational trauma that we allowed to happen, and Grenfell Tower stands as a monolith to the failure of those we trusted to keep us safe. So let this legacy be that those working in the housing, construction and fire safety sectors do not view Grenfell as an inconvenience to trade, but as a vocational calling to build better, build safer, build quality, to protect the communities that we live in and for the generations that come after us. Not because we are being made to by regulation, but because we realise that this is the single and greatest action we can make and give to the victims and survivors.
