The CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 is fundamental for a strong - dare I say return to dominance? - manufacturing infrastructure in the United States. The speaker was Al Kapoor, the Chairman of Syntec Optics, a company employing over 300 skilled professionals. Now, we're sharing his insights with the rest of the Photonics community. https://lnkd.in/dfu3r--W Headquartered in Rochester, NY, Syntec Optics specializes in producing high-precision optical components critical to many sectors, including defense, medical devices, and telecommunications. Al Kapoor has over 25 years of experience in the optics industry. Under his guidance, Syntec Optics continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in photonics and optics. Here are some key highlights: 🔧 Building Block Design: Leveraging our advanced process design kit (PDK), we’ve designed robust demonstrators that showcase our capabilities. 🔬 Front-End Technology: Our efforts are strengthening the LNOI substrate supply chain. With the development of cutting-edge TFLN technology nodes—featuring three waveguide layers and two metallization layers—we are setting new standards in photonics. 📦 Packaging & Integration: Optimized assemblies for SMF-PWB-TFLN and SMF-PWB-InP are now delivering low insertion loss, paving the way for seamless integration. 🛠️ Prototype Development: We are in the final stages of assembling and testing several innovative demonstrators.
