🚀 Day 1 at #WebSummit, and the opening debates set the tone for an next few days! "The Great AI Debate: Who Decides Our Future?" was a thought-provoking discussion, with great speakers Max Tegmark (Future of Life Institute (FLI)), Thomas Wolf (Hugging Face), and host Nicholas Thompson (The Atlantic). Here are my key takeaways: 🔹 Pushing AI to New Heights — with Control: We’re on a journey to build the most powerful AI possible, but we need to retain control. Like a car with a driver, AI must remain guided and safely controlled (Max Tegmark). 🔹 AGI's Unveiling on Hold: Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) isn't here just yet—according to experts, it will only arrive once we know how to fully control it. A huge consideration for the future of AI! (Max Tegmark) 🔹 The Robotics AI Era Approaches: Thomas Wolf (Hugging Face) emphasized that 2024 could usher in the age of robotics AI, even tackling traditional roles like plumbing! This shift will redefine work and automation. 🔹 The Need for AI Safety Standards: As in other industries, AI should have rigorous safety standards.
