How transparent is your business? The concept of transparency in business is gaining traction. More consumers and employees are asking for data and accountability, and some businesses are responding innovatively to meet these demands. 🔎 Transparency as a competitive edge: Instead of waiting for regulatory mandates, many companies are leveraging supply chain and manufacturing data to their advantage. For instance, Boll & Branch launched Origin Track, which allows consumers to trace the journey of their sheets from raw materials to finished products. Similarly, EON uses digital identification technology to provide luxury brands like Chloé with detailed information about an item's origin, repair, and cleaning processes. 🛠️ Leveraging technology for transparency: GS1, renowned for its UPC barcodes, is pioneering a shift to 2D barcodes that offer more detailed product information. Imagine being able to scan a QR Code to check for allergens or verify the freshness of an item before purchase—an innovation that benefits both consumers and retailers. These advancements highlight a growing trend: Businesses are recognizing the value of transparency, not just as a legal obligation but as a strategic business advantage. Do it already!!! Be bold. Be unique. Innovate. Dare to change. Create something truly unique. Test something new - like implementing new processes, or a new business model, or a revolutionizing tool. The apparel industry is in pain right now. The recession. The inflation. The changed customer behaviors. The new legislation. The retailer stock piles. The brand stock piles. The logistical nightmare… It’s tough. From conversations with industry colleagues and brands - we sense fear. Everybody is waiting to “sit this out”. Will Rogers said - Even if you’re on the right track, if you’re just standing there, you’ll get run over. “Waiting things out” is never a good strategy - it comes from a place of fear and not from being a leader. The point is - even in hard times there’s always a silver lining. There are always opportunities. The tools, the innovation, the knowledge, the information is available - you just have to dare to lead. You can: ✅ streamline your operations, by working in a holistic manner - with integrated teams and processes - for efficient ops ✅implement additional business models like resale to reach new customers and increase your revenue ✅use data to support in collection planning to reduce overproduction and decrease the amount of creating the “wrong” product ✅innovate by using the latest materials and technology in design and product development ✅work closely with your end consumers to get feedback for perfecting your products and collections ✅calculate on it - work with projections to make sure you are creating new collections and products ”on budget” with your needed margins. You’re making “smart” decisions. ✅get control of your supply chain - have full traceability to know exactly what suppliers and manufacturers you're working with and know exactly what your products are made of. Traceability is the key to true sustainability and compliance Strategize and implement tools for growth, not for “waiting”. BTW - You can do all the above with ONE tool - Portia. See link in comments. You can’t stand still and wait this out - you’ll get run over by agile brands that dare to take action. #fashiontech #fashionsoftware #businessgrowth #tech #software #portiatech

You can't measure the traceability and true impact of a product if you don’t have data both before and after a purchase. Tracking a product from raw materials to production to sale is one thing, but what happens after it’s bought? If you’re not collecting data after purchase, you’re missing half of the impact. Without both, it’s hard to verify sustainability claims or measure the true footprint of what you’re creating. Here Are 3 Ways to Fix It: 1️⃣ Go for Full Supply Chain Visibility Use software tools and technology like Digital Product Passport to trace a product’s journey at every stage—from raw materials to post-consumer life. Companies with end-to-end traceability are more efficient, better at managing risks, and will be more competitive. 2️⃣ Track What Happens Post-Purchase Via the DPP - Gather data on how products are used, repaired, resold, or disposed of after they leave your hands. This helps you understand the complete lifecycle and gives you information on how to reduce waste and improve design. Companies that focus on “upstream” data see a greater return on sustainability efforts. 3️⃣ Keep the Conversation Going Use the Digital Product Passport to stay connected and communicate with consumers even after they buy. It gives you insight into how the products are used and also builds transparency and trust. According to studies, consumers are more likely to buy from brands that are transparent about their supply chain. Getting a grip on your traceability isn’t just about being compliant —it’s about being business-smart. Companies that invest in full traceability will stand out and thrive, as the market for supply chain visibility is expected to hit $30 billion by 2026 (Prewave). Portia will solve this problem - by allowing you full traceability, Digital Product Passport, communication with end consumers, and product afterlife tracking, it gives you the full circle view.
