This week, let’s focus on an often-overlooked aspect of workplace safety: psychosocial hazards. These can include stress, bullying, and poor work-life balance, all of which significantly impact our well-being and productivity. Identifying and addressing these hazards is crucial for fostering a healthy work environment. Here are a few steps we can take: - Promote Open Communication: Encourage team members to speak up about their mental health and well-being. - Provide Resources: Ensure that employees have access to mental health support and training. - Regular Check-Ins: Make it a habit to regularly ask team members how they’re feeling and if they need support. #SafeWorkMonth #SafetyIsOurBusiness

🌟 Sharing my personal journey on LinkedIn today because I believe in the power of storytelling to drive change. A few years ago, I experienced a serious accident at work that not only left physical scars but also took a toll on my mental wellbeing. It was a moment that shattered my confidence and sense of self-worth. But through this experience, I've gained valuable insights into workplace safety and mental health that I'm eager to share. My journey taught me the importance of prioritizing both physical and mental safety in the workplace. It's not just about following protocols and procedures; it's about fostering a culture of care and support. By opening up about my struggles, I hope to encourage other organizations to prioritize employee wellbeing and create environments where everyone feels valued and supported. Let's start a conversation about how we can enhance safety and wellbeing in our workplaces. Together, we can make a difference. #WorkplaceSafety #MentalHealthAwareness #WellbeingAtWork 💼🧠

The First Principle of Psychological Safety: “The harder you make it to voice problems, the harder it becomes to solve them. The issues people are most afraid to raise are the most likely to become thorns in your side. It’s impossible to fix what you don’t know is broken.” -Adam Grant It’s with the above sentiment in mind that I’m beyond proud to work for an organization that places a priority on creating a psychologically safe workplace for all. Earlier this week, Amtrak was recognized by Mental Health America with #TheBellSeal for Workplace Mental Health, an unparalleled workplace mental health certification that recognizes employers who are committed to transforming their workplaces into more supportive and healthier spaces where everyone can thrive. Given the significant amount of our lives we spend with our colleagues at work, it’s crucial that our mental well-being is at the forefront of our culture. At Amtrak, our safety depends upon each of us being at our best mentally and physically. As a Workplace Wellbeing, Mental Health and Neurodiversity Trainer it is fantastic to see the awareness being promoted and the individual stories that people are sharing today on World Mental Health Day. To be able to focus on the way in which we support within the workplace is great but as many have mentioned already today and I am sure many more will, we must ensure that the awareness and conversations we are having today continue to take place every day. When we listen to our people, when we encourage them to have the difficult conversations we can start to create a culture where we can celebrate truly authentic engagement. #worldmentalhealthday #authenticengagement #workplacewellbeing
