From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Tuesday! I hope you have some fun plans lined up to end the year! When we have a forecast for ourselves, we can find joy in beginning again. In Phase Two: Why of the SWORD Inclusion System for C-Suite leaders, forecasting begins to be forecasting for those who come after us. --- BALANCED FORECASTING: We ensure we have enough information for a clear path to build a foundation for those who come after us. ---INCLUSIVE REMINDERS: We remind our fellow leaders and employees that their perspectives are considered to create a vested stake. --- CHANGE ADOPTION: As we adopt more change efforts in 2025, more are receptive as they know their perspectives were considered. There are countless reasons to foster inclusion, and often, we don’t have to hire to start. We cultivate inclusion from where we are. Once we start, it makes it hard to stop! Enjoy the new year! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #inclusionincludesyoutoo #InclusionontheSlopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseTwoWhy #csuiteinclusion

A couple of weeks ago, we talked about our #Card15 #PracticeActiveInclusion and the importance of ensuring that all voices are heard to build trust, enhance collaboration, and empower better decision-making. It also makes people feel like they are part of something bigger. This #Kindness101 segment from "CBS News Mornings" demonstrates just how simple it is to be kind but how profound the experience is for the person on the receiving end. We could learn a lot from these kind kids. How about a little self-reflection: 🫶 What does Active Inclusion look like for you? 🫶 How did someone make you feel included? 🫶 How have you included others? If you're comfortable sharing your experiences, comment below👇. #GetKind www.getkindcards.com #KindnessMatters #Inclusion #Diversity

Respectfully, I challenge you to rethink psychological safety. It is not about being “nice” — that is a common misconception. It's a nuanced concept that evolves through four stages: #Inclusion, #Learner, #Contributor, and #Challenger. While many organizations invest in the first three stages, they often falter when it comes to fostering challenger safety—and that's where true innovation thrives. Interested in learning more? What's the difference between a facilitator and a group leader? What kinds of things happen to us in groups? And how can we support ourselves, as group conductors, when differences and biases create turbulence or even open conflict between group members? In an online workshop (Zoom, 1st October, 10am-1pm) experienced facilitator and psychotherapist, Chris Rolls CTA(P), will introduce participants to the basics of group dynamics theory and their implications for inclusive facilitation practice. An Introduction to Group Dynamics: Models and Practice for Facilitators. "It really made me think about the things I do with groups without thinking about them. It's great to have a greater awareness of this." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Previous participant. The workshop is relevant for all facilitators and practitioners of all levels of experience and would be excellent CPD for those who want to refresh their skills. Our founders, Dr Gena and Ami, came from the same place and were set on never again contorting themselves to be seen as worthy of a seat at the table. Why a table? Why do we clamour to be seen, heard, recognized and respected in spaces that are built on faulty foundations of inequity and systemic discrimination, favouring a few over others? Reposting from my friend & mentor Dr. Deborah Plummer: My friends, it is important for us to take the time to honor our feelings of depression and anxiety (what I am doing for a bit today) then we take that same energy to fight for a better tomorrow. We have to stay connected to other dreamers, imaginers, and creators of the world we want to see. Our work for a healthy, inclusive democratic society continues. Treating differences as a threat to be feared can only be conquered by growing and learning the competencies we need to manage our increasingly diverse society. That work is best done in community, and no matter if these values are not modeled by political leadership, we can build and live this community every single day. #gettingtowe
