National Sovereignty 🇹🇷
National Sovereignty and Children's Day is an official holiday celebrated in the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus every year on April 23. This day marks the opening anniversary of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which was established in 1921.
This parliament was the first in the history of Türkiye to operate without the shadow of the sultan and monarchy. Unlike previous parliaments, the Grand National Assembly was a revolutionary republic assembly that unconditionally gave sovereignty to the Turkish nation.

I recently shared my thoughts with bbc persian on why a reformist president with relatively low votes is a strategic choice for #Iran's establishment to negotiate with the West.
Historically, Western countries generally view reformists more positively than conservatives in #Iran. This perception assists #Pezeshkian in brokering deals with the West that can be beneficial for the government. However, if things go wrong, the establishment can place the blame on him, as he doesn't fully represent the core of the government. Additionally, the political cost of compromise, which is necessary for making any deal with the West, would be borne by the reformist, not the establishment.
Lastly, His weaker base and lower votes compared to previous reformist presidents means that any foreign deal won't significantly boost his domestic political power, minimizing the threat to the establishment.

CONTEXT AND SIGNIFICANCE:
In a time of increasing geopolitical tensions and conflicts, such as those in Sudan and Gaza, Kenya and Norway continue to work collaboratively on the global stage to promote peace and security. Both nations act as bridge builders between geopolitical divides, striving to maintain a balanced multilateral order. Norway’s recent recognition of the state of Palestine, alongside Spain and Ireland, highlights its active role in Middle Eastern politics. Concurrently, Kenya leads in peace and security efforts within the Horn of Africa and globally, including a planned police contingent deployment to Haiti.
The partnership between Kenya and Norway extends to the climate agenda and the blue economy, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Norwegian companies are increasingly investing in Kenya, particularly in agriculture, agri-technology, ICT, startups, and renewable energy sectors, with Norwegian state entities investing approximately USD 500 million in Kenyan companies.
The Foreign Minister of Norway, H.E Barth Eide, will during his official visit to Kenya, deliver a public lecture on the topic:- 60 Years of Bilateral Relations: Norway and Kenya, multilateralism and Partners for Peace and Security in a Divided World on 6th June 2024 at 10.00 am, Chandaria Auditorium.
Purpose to attend.

Contrary to LIES propagated by Israel, the Palestinians have NEVER been offered their own state, Israel has always blocked this.
Everyone loves to talk about the Hamas charter, but Hossam Mazlot, the UK ambassador for Palestine (from the Palestinian Authority) said even sodding Hamas who we are all told are unwilling to compromise, would have accepted a two state solution years ago!
Whereas Israel's ruling extremist party,
the Likud party, wrote in their manifesto that there will only ever be one state, Israel, from the River to the Sea!
Yet our governments support this GENOCIDAL STATE unconditionally,
pretending they are working with them towards a two state solution,
whilst arming them to the teeth with the weapons they use to terrorise, maim and KILL these people.
It's irrelevant what Hamas SAYS,
it cannot ENACT the destruction of Israel.
And crazy enough, it is Hamas that has shein willingness to compromise.
Whereas it is Israel,
both in WORDS and DEEDS,
that has ACTED and has the CAPABILITY
to destroy Palestine
and it has almost succeeded completely.
So please, let's dispense with the LIE
that it's Hamas that cannot be negotiated with. Palestine has NEVER had a partner for peace in Israel.
Israel has been genociding Palestinians since it's violent birth,
and for 76 years continued a slow genocide that accelerates every few years.
Netanyahu previously said he wanted to
"GET RID OF ALL THE ARABS
in the next war".
https://lnkd.in/eRSNruXq
This man and Israel's aims have been GENOCIDAL since it's inception.
Yet Palestinians still are EXPECTED to,
and I agree, SHOULD,
negotiate with the GENOCIDAL STATE OCCUPYING them.
BOTH SIDES should be negotiated with.
It is Israeli propaganda that they need to KILL all Hamas,
and Hamas can't be negotiated with,
to JUSTIFY THIS GENOCIDE.
END THIS GENOCIDE,
END THE OCCUPATION
and let war crimes on BOTH sides be investigated by the ICC
and those found guilty, be JAILED.
Israel won't, because justice is not their aim, GENOCIDE and more LAND THEFT is.

Journalist Aaron Maté explains to two Israel apologists on Piers Morgan's show that Israel's foundational commitment to regional dominance is the real obstacle to peace. He highlights how even an Israeli Foreign Minister admitted that, as a Palestinian, he would have rejected Israel's so-called "generous" peace offer of July 2000.
Time for peace! There is no future for the radicals on both sides..... everyone who wants to claim the territory exclusively for themselves will only find war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals with each other. This leads to mutual understanding and empathy; only this path leads to replacing fear and hatred by trust and solidarity, and to prosperity for all by solving the conflict forever. Radicals will become speechless.

“Prime Minster Netanyahu has begun a campaign against unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state, saying direct negotiations between the parties are the only path to establishing one. While a popular step across the board in Israel, it may do nothing to stop international recognition.”
There was no “direct negotiations between the parties” before the United Nations unilaterally partitioned Palestine to create the nation of Israel. In fact, all Arab members voted “no” to the partition, which made no difference with respect to the majority vote.
In the North Macedonian dilemma, Greece doesn’t need help, it needs experienced politicians dedicated to realpolitik. North Macedonia can become an EU member, which as a result will bear economic and political gains for the country. Greece can be a part of that and demonstrate its ability to resolve situations diplomatically and peacefully. However, the populist revisionist voices coming from both states cannot help resolve the problem. Although I am very far away from supporting any terrorist's ideology, I strongly condemn the killings. It are the politicians who start an attack or war and who need to negotiate a ceasefire or truce. In this process both sides in the end must stop using empty words or empty proposals and to be ready to compromise, otherwise there will be no result and the "war" continues. However, at the same time, one does not select his or her opponents in this process, there is a conflict to deal with, and both sides are free to have their different visions and to exchange proposals. Nevertheless, by negotiating, one also accepts politicians to represent their points of view and to represent people as a stakeholder. In my opinion this implies not to kill the people you negotiate with, or purposely attack their families, this is an act of terror by itself and is in my opinion to be fully condemned and counterproductive. Reaching a permanent ceasefire or truce is only the beginning by the way. From there the real peacebuilding must start. This is done by non-violent interaction between the ordinary civilians at both sides. This will generate mutual understanding and empathy. It is the only path to replace fear and hatred by trust and solidarity, solving a conflict forever, realizing sustainable peace. In this process of growing together there is no place for the narrative of radical politicians (and they will thus disappear!)..... Anyone who wants to claim the entire territory exclusively for themselves will only find war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. With Gaza being destroyed for the next years to come, the chances for a two-state solution are meanwhile getting minimal, the alternative is a one-state solution. There is space for all (https://lnkd.in/dGTAtn6V, interesting data and interesting plan for the return of all displaced Palestinians). Practically, it means to go back to the times of Canaan and to establish (democratic) autonomous communities and spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in a confederation of communities, sharing the country. There is space for all cultural identities this way. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for another exodus.

HAMAS PROBLEM IN THE NEGOTIATIONS
The Palestinian journalist Iman Khaled writes about the assassination of the sons of Ismail Haniyeh:
Hamas's problem in the negotiations is its unjustified stubbornness and harshness and its focus on protecting the lives of the movement's senior officials from assassination.
The Israeli step - the elimination of Haniyeh's sons is an action aimed at breaking this basis in the negotiations - this is what Hamas needs to know.
The language of the negotiations should not be a language of empty words but flexible diplomacy.
Once again Hamas proves that it cannot negotiate and the reason for this lies in the nature of the fundamentalist movement which operates according to the scriptures (literally) and not according to the insight required of the reader from the scriptures (sermon).
Haniyeh's children and grandchildren are brought to burial.👇
What has been built in South Africa is extraordinary considering the abyss we were contemplating ahead of the first free and fair elections in 1994, particularly in the province we are based, KwaZulu-Natal. It took South Africans on all sides being more determined to come together and form something new than to hold onto the status quo including privilege, access and security that excluded others.
It seems to me that ultimately in Israel-Palestine the only sustainable future is for moderates from all sides to find one another and be determined to forge something new that has the potential to bring prosperity to all. The struggle for the realisation of that goal in South Africa is still very real, but we are at least on that journey. The sooner Israel-Palestine can marginalise the radicals and find each other as moderates committed to a sustainable future together, the sooner the area is on the path to a solution.
The question is whether there is the possibility of a groundswell of moderates who can find each other or whether the radicals will continue to win out by radicalising one generation after another through violence and destruction. Foundational to the determination of that possibility is the worldview of each side and whether those worldviews are able to sustain hospitality and acceptance of the Other and therefore sustain any peace that can be forged.
