𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐔 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐈𝐌, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞. Here are 5 major differences between a B-school and any other UG college: 1. Time management is very crucial in a B-school. DU was very chill in this aspect. 2. You can't explore as much in a B-school as you can in a UG college. 3. You network more in a B-school and make friends during your UG college. (I was lucky though) 4. The pressure is way too much in a B-school compared to UG college, where you mainly feel pressure during exams and placements. 5. Generally, you get better paisa in a B-school compared to your UG college. (The most important one) At last, I must say that both experiences were incredibly valuable on a personal level. At IIM, I learned the essence of professionalism, while DU helped me nurture and refine my personality, shaping me into the person I am today. Picture: Me doing something I love during UG.

People confused between C and FMS need to choose the tradeoff of RoI vs Campus life, in my honest opinion. 🌿FMS has a smaller batch size and has a very high RoI. 🌿C has the campus life and the IIM tag. But in my opinion, more than tags it's the individual's decisions that matters in the long run. 🌿From placement PoV, there's not much difference although C is known as the fin campus and FMS is the Mecca of Marketing. Celebrate 😃 I wasn’t sure I was going to get any college from top 15 at 97.11 percentile and I said to my mom, “I am fine if I don’t get IIM A, but at least I wish to be part of any tier 1 college and I will prove my worth. I will not let that college get disappointed.” Fortunately, MDI happened. And, I made sure I was doing something worthwhile every month. One of the major thing that differentiates a Top college from other colleges is the plethora of opportunities that former gets. They have to choose from the sea of opportunities. But at your college, even if the number of opportunities is limited, at least you won’t have to choose. Make most of all the opportunities coming your way, be it participating in case competitions, doing certifications to level up your skills, asking connections on LinkedIn for live projects, etc. Just push yourself out of your comfort zone, and do it! Hello everyone! It's been a week since I joined DMSIE, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad 💫and it's been quite the adventure for me. As an MBA student, I'm excited for the months ahead, which I know will be full of learning and growth. 📈 Here's a quick summary of my journey so far:⚡️ 1️⃣Meet-up sessions: We had a great time getting to know each other, introducing ourselves, and learning about our different backgrounds. 🎓 2️⃣Unpacking and settling in: After unpacking our bags 💼 and organizing our stuff in our hostels 🏨, we were ready to jump into the program. 3️⃣Icebreaking sessions: Our seniors organized a fantastic session that helped us bond and understand the challenges ahead. We got to know them better and gained valuable insights. 💡 4️⃣Orientation program: The departmental introduction was truly inspiring. We met our alumni, who shared their experiences, and our professors, who told us their expectations. One piece of advice from a professor really stuck with me: "Live the present and work on it – your future will automatically be great." I also believe in living in the moment and improving ourselves is one of the best things.😇 5️⃣Departmental and college committee introduction: This session was super fun! We learned about different committees and showed off our talents through activities like dance, singing, and poetry. Our seniors joined in, and we had a great time.🥳🤩 6️⃣Regular classes: We're diving into learning and exploring new perspectives on the business world. 🧑🏻💻👩🏻💼 7️⃣Profile building Session: I would like to thank our Alumni Prabhat Tyagi, who took this session for our batch MBA’26 and guided us in building our profile and resume.📑 That's my first week in a nutshell! Every year, close to 3 lakh students appear for CAT, but the total number of seats in top colleges like IIM ABC, LKI, XLRI, FMS, IIFT Delhi, MDI, IIM Shillong, etc., is less than 5,000. It’s just not possible for everyone to get into these colleges. That doesn’t mean you’re not good enough—it simply reflects the highly competitive nature of the process. Not securing a seat in these colleges doesn’t mean you’ve failed, nor does it mean you should keep repeating the exam every year. Repeating isn’t always feasible or necessary. There are many great colleges outside the top three that can provide excellent opportunities. While IIM ABC might have a certain allure, let’s not narrow down the definition of success. Your B-school can increase your odds, but it doesn’t guarantee success, just as not attending a top-tier college doesn’t limit your potential. Life is far more complex and subjective. Consider this: the bottom 10% of students in IIM ABC often struggle to get placed, while the top 25% of students in other good colleges, like IIM Shillong, IIFT Delhi, or MDI, secure exceptional opportunities. Ten years down the line, your college will matter far less than your skills, adaptability, and consistency. So, to those feeling anxious: 1. Celebrate your achievements so far—getting a decent CAT percentile itself is a big deal. 2. Start preparing for interviews and secure a seat in the best college you can. 3. Understand that success is about the long term—your college is just one part of the journey. Your B-school doesn’t define your success—you do. "𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐈𝐒𝐁 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞?" That was my first thought when I heard about ISB's new 20-month PGP YL program. Indian School of Business has announced the initiation of this program, designed for graduates with 0-2 years of work experience, aiming to compete with the PGP programs of the 𝐈𝐈𝐌𝐬 and other premier B-schools. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚: 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline. 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬: Valid GMAT, GRE (test center-based), or CAT scores as per application round deadline. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 0-24 months as of June 15 in the year of joining. 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: TOEFL/IELTS required if the medium of instruction was not English. Venturing into a new territory, especially one marked by intense competition, comes with its risks. With established B-schools already dominating this space and offering lower fees, ISB may struggle to make this program the top choice for the best candidates. The business school landscape is changing, and more schools are adapting to diverse student profiles. In this evolving environment, there’s a real concern that ISB’s move into the crowded 2-year MBA space could take away from what makes its brand so distinct. The discontinuation of YLP, which once served as a pathway to the 12-month program, along with the introduction of this new offering, could overshadow the flagship program, known for attracting experienced professionals, and potentially weaken the unique position ISB currently holds in business education 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐈𝐌𝐬' 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦?  Only time will tell. What is the best b-school in India? Founded in 2001 with a lot of Western influence (Kellogg, Wharton and LBS proactively helped nurture the institution) it consistently ranks among the top b-schools not just in India but in the world . The founding of this college also saw the then Andhrapradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the erstwhile PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee pursue active initiation right from the sanctioning of land to having all the licenses in place. What's even more crazy is the fact that close to 3/4th of the batch almost every year tries raising a startup of their own. This sure is an entrepreneurial school! Well, I'm talking of the most Iconic business school of India Indian School of Business And in this week's episode of the Mba series Tanya, Manan and I have an engaging conversation on the nuances of getting to pursue an Mba from here. Here are the 3 key takeaways from our evocative discussion: 1) Institutionalized Placements. ISB has an in-house administration department run by employees that take care of all the activities with regard to placements. No other college in the entire country does this or has tried adopting this very simple policy. This not only eliminiates the possibility of power strifes among the students but also adds a layer of efficiency and accountability on the insitution's side. Every single b-school in the entire world should have specific employees taking care of the placements. Right Shiv Shivakumar ? 2) The program lasts just for a year There's no Summer Internship Program , there's no mid semester break and lousy academic calendars. The schedule is jam-packed all throughout the year and not a single aspect of the curriculum is compromised with. 3) Startups and International Exchange The institution has a committee called I-Venture @ ISB in place that nurtures a fledgling organization aiding it with requisite pre-seed funding, point of contacts of relevant VC firms and a lot more. Most of the leading b-schools across the globe are a part of the International exchange program. To eliminate bias and favoritism of any sort, students get shortlisted for the exchange program through a randomized trial process. Talk of being equitable and just!! Yes, you heard that right 1 ruppee is all it took for the insitution to acquire land for its foundation.
