⚡ How Big Tech intends to power AI’s insatiable thirst for energy A huge upswing in the number of data centers worldwide shows no signs of slowing down, prompting Big Tech to consider how best to power the artificial intelligence revolution. Some of the options on the table include a pivot to nuclear, liquid cooling for data centers and quantum computing. Critics, however, have said that as the pace of efficiency gains in electricity use slows, tech giants should recognize the cost of the generative AI boom across the whole supply chain — and let go of the “move fast and break things” narrative. “I think in the summer of every great technology we discover there is a winter — but don’t pay attention to it until winter arrives,” Raj Hazra, CEO of Quantinuum, the world’s largest integrated quantum computing company, told CNBC via video call. 👇 Take a look at the full story here: https://lnkd.in/edeCeaTS #AI #datacenters #nuclear #energy #sustainability

Scaling laws have indeed showed us a path toward achieving today's state-of-the-art models. By expanding datasets, increasing computational power, or enhancing model complexity, firms have been able to achieve impressive advancements and, consequently, claim bragging rights. However, I believe we have now reached a juncture where innovation needs to take the hot seat again. We have consumed almost all data available on the internet and are resorting to synthetic data generation, as well as proposing establishment of dedicated nuclear energy plants for datacenters. This feels absolutely surreal, like pulling out all the best combo moves against the final boss in a video game and still struggling. The solution? Discovering new moves, in other words, fostering innovation. This means developing efficient GPU architectures, exploring new LLM architectures, and truly understanding intelligence to extract the most from every single data point and being able to replicate it.

#NUCLEAR OPTION: BIDEN ISSUES “FOR US OR AGAINST US” #AI FRAMEWORK! TODAY, “divide and conquer”: using tried and tested nuclear proliferation protocols, the Biden Administration promulgated a new AI chip rule: a 200+ page "#AI #Diffusion" framework, reshaping global AI tech trade completely. This means: 1. The #world and the #future are now officially divided as “us against them”! 2. Every nation will have to choose sides; although smart-nations will winnow through to strategic leverages; a prospect that bodes not well for the Caribbean. 3. Key goal of the new #Biden Rules: Keep advanced AI development running on “U.S. trains on U.S. rails with advantages to the U.S.". 4. In all, 18 countries get VIP treatment with ZERO restrictions - including #UK, #Canada, #Japan, #Germany, #SouthKorea & #Taiwan. These trusted partners can freely access any and all US AI tech. Small orders (up to 1,700 GPUs) worldwide won't need special permission. “6W Research-#MICROPROCESSOR #GPU MARKET ANALYSIS 2024” says: “The microprocessor and GPU market in #Caribbean is constrained by small size of local technology sectors, resulting in limited demand for high-performance computing components. Import dependence increases costs, making these products more expensive compared to global markets.” The implication is: 1. The Caribbean would require less than the 1,700 GPUs. 2. The Caribbean is either irrelevant or uncompetitive Companies in allied nations can become "Universal Verified End Users" - letting them use up to 7% of their AI compute globally. BUT crucially, they must keep 75% of total compute power in US/allied territory. #Microsoft & #Google - who ‘influenced’ the policy - are already preparing to comply by upgrading their enterprise protocols. Non-allied state companies, not in "countries of concern" can get "National Verified End User" status, with access to 320,000 advanced GPUs over 2 years. Small insignificant nations can also qualify here, but must meet strict security standards & prove legitimate business use. Read that as U.S. Government and companies will demand complete access to all national data and the right to generate (that’s important) and collect #datapoints. The rules allow 50,000 GPUs per country and those aligning with US tech policies can DOUBLE to 100,000 GPUs; affecting major markets like #India, #Brazil, #Indonesia & #Mexico; if followed, it gives the U.S. direct control over national AI rollouts! NOT EVERYONE’s HAPPY: #NVIDIA calls it a "regulatory morass" that threatens innovation. I advised 3 months ago that small nations should partner with NVIDIA immediately. Now they must meet the new criteria. What’s left? Partner with countries listed in the Allies Group: #Estonia, #Singapore, #Norway or #Switzerland…or partner with #China! There’s no option in avoiding or delaying these initiatives. They are happening! If nations aren’t engaged - strategising for leverage - they will crawl through the 21st century in crisis!

Quantum computing is here! Google just announced the new Quantum chip- willow. To put into perspective, the quantum chip can process data in 5 minute that took a traditional computer 10 septillion years, or 10²⁴ years. In comparison, it “only” took the earth 4.54 billion years (4.54×10⁹ years) to form and develop life. I am both excited and fearful. I don't think this tech is going to be here that quickly. I am excited about the potential. What if it can solve nuclear fusion and provide humanity with cheap, clean unlimited energy? What if it can be use to simulate molecular interaction and drug design to cure all diseases? I am afraid because it can be used to break all encryption and compromise all modern cybersecurity systems. Quantum computing and AI will definitely catapult us to the new era of humanity. One we couldn't even imagine.
