Consequences of trauma invalidation: "When we listen to others with empathy and validation, we create a safe space for them to share their truth.” 😣Increased Shame and Guilt. Individuals may feel ashamed or guilty for their feelings, believing that their experiences are not severe enough to warrant distress. This can lead to internalized negativity. ☹️Diminished self worth. 😭Heightened Emotional Distress Isolation Difficulty trusting others. Psychological symptoms. Avoidance of healing. Reinforced negative beliefs. Impeded relationships. Retraumatisation is a real thing. It usually occurs when a person experiences a recurrence of emotional or psychological distress due to events, interactions, or situations that trigger memories or feelings associated with a past traumatic event. This can happen intentionally or unintentionally and may stem from environments, conversations, or experiences that resemble the original trauma. When it is unintentional, someone may inadvertently bring up painful memories or force someone to confront their trauma in an unhelpful way. Either way, the triggers evoke feelings or an activation of ill or old coping mechanisms…. Unless a solution is implemented ti manage or prevent a retraumatisation.
