📣 Shoutout to my APAC friends, the amazing John Cutler will be hosting an Oceania/Asia timezone friendly cohort of his 'How to Run an Effective Prioritization Activity' workshop. If the following resonates with you, this is right up your alley! "If you have facilitated a prioritization exercise you know that the real limiter is not picking the right framework. The real challenge is making prioritization decisions without getting mired in: • false rigor • horse trading • estimation bingo • …and decision paralysis. This workshop is about short-circuiting these traps...And making those decisions stick!" Pumped for this! John always challenges my thinking and gets me viewing things from a different perspective. If you're interested, register 👇 https://lnkd.in/gpMcn49N And I'll see you there!

The purpose of a retrospective is to learn from what's happened so that we can improve. I see many teams that schedule and attend retrospective meetings but completely miss the point of improvement. They vent about things they don't like but don't take any actions to fix those things. Unfortunately, problems rarely fix themselves, and so they talk about the same things, meeting after meeting. If we aren't taking action on the things we discuss in the retrospective and then reviewing whether that made us better, then we've missed the whole point of this activity.

Implicit Critical Thinking: skilled thinking that functions without awareness on the part of the thinker as to how he or she does what he or she is doing when thinking critically; critical thinking that is not directly expressed. Everyone at times thinks at a high level of skill. And many people have a strong interest in developing their minds. But, often, the attempt to reason “well” or “better” is left at the implicit level. When we move from implicit critical thinking to explicit critical thinking, we focus on taking direct command of our thinking and raising it to a high level of quality. We use the tools of critical thinking to bring our thinking to the conscious level, so as to better analyze, assess and improve it. See explicit critical thinking, critical thinking forms. pi^2. Join us on pi-day for a roundtable on pi-shaped skills. https://lnkd.in/gC3Z8YPQ Our report on Skills in the New World of Work revealed a shift from T-shaped skills (deep expertise in one area + broad general skills) to "Pi-shaped" skills. This deep expertise in two or more areas, combined with solid generalist skills, demands specialization and adaptability. But, in a world of "both-and," is this pivot as irrational as the number Pi? Or does it reflect a sweet future for people who have learned to learn (and apply) new skills in demand today? Join us for a special complimentary roundtable discussion as we celebrate Pi-Day (March 14 = 3.14) with a delectable exploration of the rise of "Pi-shaped" skills in today's workplace and its implications for you.

My client has a love-hate relationship with my structured lean experimentation approach to create and test a new business model. .
