"Sign with the platform provider quickly and jump off soon." I know where the roots of this narrative stem from. ▪ Here is one side: A lot of platform providers offer unfair deals for operators. They can burden you with a very long launch and only demand more set-up fees. Time goes by, and you are not getting a return on investment. ▪Another side looks like this: You approach a platform provider to run on their iGaming platform. You are not interested in an ongoing business process. You aim for the best deal, grow your revenue, and create your platform ASAP. Neither one is going to benefit a business long-term. We need to raise this issue more often: Running an iGaming business is a long-term, costly affair. I am too often surprised that the potential clients I meet don't think of it. Operators come to the table with a staggering amount of financial overpromising. In reality, if a platform provider or business partner claims they can take $50,000 and set up a profitable business in just six months, something is definitely off. Here's what my long years in the industry prove: Having just the operating team (5–10 skilled people) costs about $50,000 per month. Then, you also need to consider traffic costs up to $100,000, plus advertising and marketing expenses and fees for the platform provider (or the costs of developing your own technology). This isn’t financial or business advice, but you can clearly see where I'm heading: Investing in any business requires millions and up to two years to establish operations correctly.
