3 tips for beginning therapists 1. know why people suffer, what therapy is and how it works • clients ultimately suffer for only 1 reason, there’s something that could not be taken in stride & handled. (our definition of Trauma) If u can handle everything, ur free of suffering. • therapy is mastering what couldn’t previously be taken in stride • It’s easy to describe how to do this. When something can’t be taken in stride, in that moment a discomfort is born. We unconsciously identify with it & live out of its story. When we become aware of discomfort & choose to become it from the inside out in the same way an actor chooses to fully embody a role without identifying with the character, we are free We go from having an identity, I am anxious. To identifying with the 1 having a feeling, I feel anxious. To identifying with the 1 bearing witness. Experiencing the 1 feeling anxious. It’s this union of mindfulness & somatics that is a key. The body holds the key to great wisdom 2. Listen literally & know everything’s part of the process. 3. The client is the expert of their life. There’s no such thing as resistance, only remembering. Our job is to know how to do the things listed above Beginning therapist, helpful? Please share

https://lnkd.in/epNX_izc Empathy reveals our shared human experiences, bridging cultural, linguistic, and background differences. When we understand others' struggles, we bond on a deeper level, realizing our challenges are universal. Empathy invites us to walk in someone else’s shoes, truly understanding their perspective. It makes us kinder and less critical, validating others' feelings and providing comfort. Empathy breaks the loneliness of struggles. Listening without judgment creates a safe space for vulnerability. Empathy sparks action, inspiring us to help and support each other, leading to positive change. Research shows that empathetic connections boost mental and physical health. Compassionate healthcare providers improve patient outcomes and satisfaction, recognizing the human aspect of care. Empathy fuels hope, showing strength in hardship. At Cleveland Clinic, empathy is the connection that reminds us we're not alone. It’s the glue that binds humanity, fostering kindness and healing. Watch our Empathy video to see the importance of human connection. You won’t regret it.

Suicide Prevention Day Talking helps.... Suicidal thoughts can be complex, frightening and confusing. But they’re more common than many of us realise and 1 in 5 of us will experience them. People experiencing suicidal thoughts might be going through a range of emotions, including feeling trapped, overwhelmed, like a burden, or hopeless. Everyone copes and reacts in their own way, but there may be signs that someone is struggling to cope and having suicidal feelings. Some signs to look out for include when someone is: - Distancing themselves or not replying to messages - Talking about feeling worthless, hopeless or trapped - Not doing the things they usually enjoy - Finding day-to-day tasks difficult
