Starting this week, our partner Mott MacDonald Bentley | MMB will begin working to line 600m of the combined sewer network on Northallerton Road in Leeming Bar. This project aims to reduce the number of discharges into Terry Gutter during periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall and lessen the impact of groundwater infiltration on the network. The work will be carried out in two phases and is expected to be completed this spring. This will include a pumping station, a conveyance tunnel with emergency drawdown, water treatment works and a pipeline for transferring water to the Southern Water supply area." WisDOT and Gov. Evers announced Harbor Assistance Program grants totaling more than $10 million for five harbor maintenance and construction projects in La Crosse, La Pointe, Marinette, Green Bay, and Manitowoc. Improvements will help strengthen supply chain reliability, support waterborne freight, and assist with economic development in Wisconsin’s coastal communities. The Green Infrastructure Partnership Program (GIPP) celebrates its 14th year in 2025. In 2024, 11 public and private property projects were awarded funding to implement over 3.5 million gallons of stormwater capture through green infrastructure (GI). This program is a cornerstone of MMSD’s GI Programs that offer incentive funding to partners to install GI that can provide additional benefits beyond traditional stormwater management. 50 Shades of Grey…Belt We now have a definition of Grey Belt, introduced in the consultation draft National Planning Policy Framework (the Framework) “ For the purposes of plan-making and decision-making, grey belt is defined as land in the Green Belt comprising previously developed land and any other parcels and/or areas of Green Belt land that make a limited contribution to the five Green Belt purposes, but excluding those areas or assets of particular importance.( e.g SSSI, AONB National Parks)“ So the search is on for Green Belt- car parks, storage areas, surplus/underused infrastructure land, and land that makes a limited contribution to GB purposes. I can foresee much debate on that issue.

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner and Pinsent Masons have secured their latest major infrastructure mandate, guiding Thames Water as it pushes forward with plans for the £2.2bn South East Strategic Reservoir Option. The site will be the second-largest reservoir in England and support Thames Water, Southern Water and Affinity Water in delivering a safe and secure water supply to 15 million people and meeting the demands of a growing population and the pressures of climate change. Both firms are advising Thames Water on the project, according to one person close to the situation. Pinsent Masons is advising on aspects including consenting, property, regulatory, competition, procurement, and construction, with a team being led by projects partners Gordon McCreath and Sonal Shah. ⏳ 1956 ⏳ One of the services that Eby developed early on was the construction of municipal utility work, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, and interceptor sewer and water transmission pipelines. In 1955-56, the City of Wichita bid out the construction of a 66-inch water transmission main to deliver raw water from the Harvey County Equus beds. Eby completed the 19+ mile project in 1956.
