Motorcycle deaths have risen by 17.9% in the past 12 months to the end of May, with 277 deaths on Australian roads. 🏍️ It’s an increase of 42 deaths when compared to the year earlier. Crucial road safety data, including road quality, crash causes, and police enforcement, is still hidden. This data could help understand the surge and be used to save lives. With the intergovernmental agreement on road funding expiring soon, state and territory governments must follow through on federal transport minister Catherine King's demand to make the data public in exchange for funding.
