In this month's “Glow and Grow” blog, FCI intern Portia Adney focuses on the meaning behind the phrase "team work makes the dream work." “I cannot imagine doing the work that I do without a team. Granted, there's merit in individual work, but in my opinion, it does not compare to working in solid, well-functioning teams! The balancing act of school studies, work deadlines, teaching initiatives, presiding over a student organization as co-president, and managing my household responsibilities is incredibly difficult and overwhelming to say the least. Without my many incredible team members, there's no way I could be successful doing it all.” Portia values having a well-functioning team that also encourages individual accomplishments: “Understanding the importance of delegation goes a long way. Trusting that the people you work, study, and/or live with have got your back plays a fundamental role in the success of accomplishing big initiatives, goals, and providing a supportive foundation for accountability. And with March being Women's History Month, I am proud to have supported, to be supported by, and to learn from so many incredible women I work with at FCI and our external partners. Their guidance and expertise are invaluable and it's my ambition to hold a torch as bright as theirs." Portia’s reflections serve as a beautiful reminder of the role of teamwork in achieving collective success and fostering inclusivity in the workplace.

Exciting news! #YouthEmpowered/ #LaTINEriEstePuterea is among the 5 finalist projects for the prestigious P3 Impact Award at the Concordia Summit 2024! 🌐https://lnkd.in/g4qXEjXP #YouthEmpowered demonstrates the power of public-private-civil society partnerships by helping teenagers and young adults complete their education and secure jobs that match their potential. To address the risk of high school dropout and rising youth unemployment, this partnership combines Asociația The Social Incubator 's grassroots expertise with Coca-Cola HBC ‘s extensive ecosystem, working alongside Romania's educational and labor authorities. This collaboration successfully bridges the crucial gap between academic learning and real-world employment. Over 41,000 young Romanians and more than 794,000 youth have participated in the #YouthEmpowered programs in countries where Coca-Cola HBC operates. The work does not stop here, as the ultimate objective is to empower one million youths across 28 countries by 2025, through the Coca-Cola HBC system. 🌍 The P3 Impact Award, now in its 11th year, is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships (GP), Concordia, and the University of Virginia Darden School Institute for Business in Society. The award recognizes exemplary public-private partnerships that address global challenges such as education access, ecological sustainability, and economic empowerment. #YouthEmpowered #LaTINEriEstePuterea #Concordia24 #P3Impact

Please consider taking this short Alumnae survey: https://lnkd.in/euVyC9NZ As Fontbonne embarks on its 70th Anniversary, we are interested in gathering information from Alumnae who have been Trailblazers in their careers to use for 70th Anniversary celebrations and materials. Whether you were the first woman to break into a traditionally male-dominated field, an entrepreneur who founded your own business, or you have held or currently hold a high-ranking executive position such as CEO, CFO, or President, we want to hear your story. Your responses will help us celebrate and learn from the achievements of our remarkable Alumnae, providing inspiration for future generations of Fontbonne Women of Courage and helping us understand the impact of our educational community. We appreciate your time and willingness to share your experiences with us. There is a section at the end of this brief survey where you can share the name of an alumna (living or deceased) who's career and or accomplishments you would like to highlight and honor.

What a start.. My impressions of the Institute for Developing Across Differences (IDD) Learning Labs and Community week so far: traveling to Groeningen and the first evening program. Last nights expert panel was fantastic. Pondering some of the most critical questions in our diversity, equity and inclusion work today: 🔵 Is doing 'something' in the DEI work better then doing nothing? And when is it not? 🔴 In times of backlash is being creative about doing the work ‘undercover’ risking being potentially deceiving - justified ? Much food for thought resulting from the different views shared as the faculty engaged in a conversation. Some key points that stuck with me: 💡the work is of developmental nature and so from that perspective taking even small steps that lead to the next - as long as we are clear on the big picture ourcome - is worth it - by Milton J. Bennett 💡self reflection that we may be guilty of provoking the backlash ourselves, and 💡an invitation to - whatever we choose to do next - do it inclusively also of voices that might be opposing (as difficult as it is) - by Maja Nenadovic, PhD So good to be back here for the 2nd year. Love to reconnect with Melissa Liles Vincent MERK Maaike Verkuijlen Michaela Carriere Maryam Afnan Ahmad Dora Mołodyńska-Küntzel Nadine Binder, PhD (ACC, CPCC) #Inclusion #Diversity #Learning #Training #Networking #Leadership

Congratulations, IllumiNative Org, on being named a 2024 Skoll Awardee. IllumiNative (U.S.) builds power for Native American people through media representation and movement-building. They counter invisibility by ensuring Native stories are authentically told, re-educating Americans, and mobilizing support for Native issues. Since their founding in 2018, IllumiNative has developed relationships with every major film and TV streaming service to ensure Native people are consulted about Native stories. The organization drove successful campaigns to change the racist names of national sports teams, and galvanized support for the first Native American U.S. Cabinet Secretary. In this key election year, their research is spotlighting the power of the Native vote to inspire a wave of civic engagement in key states. Every year, the Skoll Award for Social Innovation recognizes exemplary leaders and organizations creating a more sustainable, peaceful, and prosperous world. Each Awardee organization receives $2 million in unrestricted funding and flexible support to scale their work and increase their impact. This includes support for Awardees to make subgrants to key partners and to extend their own capacity in areas like monitoring, evaluation, and communications.

While our employees created colorful classrooms, our funding aimed to advance learning and inspire STEM careers,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility. “With new commitments in environmental sustainability education and workforce development, our priorities and giving centered around creating brighter communities for the future.” Highlights of our 2023 community engagement commitments include: $10.3 million to help build the next generation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) leaders; progress in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), sustainability education and workforce development; $6.2 million to community sustainability and disaster and humanitarian relief; and 60 COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® projects completed in 16 countries. As a passionate advocate for education and growth, Juneteenth holds a deeply personal significance for me. It’s a day that honors the resilience and strength of our ancestors while reminding us of the ongoing journey towards true freedom and equality. June 19, 1865, marked the liberation of the last enslaved African Americans, and today, it stands as a symbol of hope and progress. In my role at South Piedmont Community College, I see firsthand the transformative power of diversity and inclusion in Corporate Education. True innovation and sustainable growth come from environments where every voice is heard, every individual is valued, and every employee has the opportunity to thrive. This Juneteenth, I challenge my fellow leaders to take meaningful action. Go beyond the surface and commit to real, impactful diversity and inclusion training. It's about more than compliance; it's about creating a culture where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and contribute their unique perspectives. At South Piedmont Community College, we are dedicated to providing organizations with the tools and knowledge to foster inclusive cultures. Our programs are designed to break down barriers, address unconscious biases, and promote a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences that enrich our workforce. Let's make this Juneteenth a turning point. Invest in diversity and inclusion training today and witness the transformative impact on your team and bottom line. Together, we can create workplaces that not only celebrate diversity but also leverage it for competitive advantage. #Juneteenth #CorporateEducation #DiversityAndInclusion #SPCC #InnovateWithInclusion #WorkplaceEquity #TransformativeTraining #Leadership #BusinessGrowth
