✍️Cavities, also known as dental caries, are caused by the breakdown of tooth enamel due to acids produced by bacteria on the tooth 🦷 surface. ➡️These bacteria thrive on sugars and starches in food, producing acid that erodes the enamel and dentin of the teeth. This process can lead to holes or cavities and, if untreated, can cause pain, infection, and even tooth loss. ➡️There are several treatment options for cavities, depending on the extent of tooth decay. 🙌 Two common procedures are: 1) Ceramic crown restoration: A) Tooth preparation: The dentist reshapes the decayed tooth to make room for the crown, removing any decayed areas. B) Impression: An impression of the prepared tooth and surrounding teeth is taken, usually with digital technology or a traditional mold. 👉Temporary #Crown: A temporary crown may be placed while the permanent crown is made by a dental lab. 👉Permanent Crown fitting: Once the ceramic crown is ready, the temporary crown is removed, and the new crown is adjusted and cemented in place. 2) Composite filling restoration: #Decay removal: The dentist drills to remove all decayed material from the tooth. #Tooth Isolation: The tooth is isolated to prevent moisture interference while placing the composite. Layering: The composite resin is applied in layers, each layer being cured or hardened using a specialized light. Shaping and polishing: After the #composite has fully hardened, it is shaped to match the contours of the tooth and polished to prevent staining and early wear. Cavities, or dental caries, occur when bacteria on the tooth surface metabolize sugars from food and drinks, producing acids that erode tooth enamel. Over time, this acid attack can create holes or cavities in the teeth. Good oral hygiene practices, such as regular brushing, flossing, and reducing sugary food and drink intake, are essential for preventing cavities.Dr Tolu Onibokun

Resin-based dental #adhesive systems can provide a more durable and long lasting #dentine #desensitizing effect. The adhesive resins can seal the dentinal tubules effectively by forming a hybrid layer. Various clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of adhesives in management of #Dentinal #hypersensitivity. Traditionally, resin composites or dentin #bonding agents are used as desensitizing agents. The conventional dentin bonding agents (DBA) removes the smear layer, etches the dentinal surface and forms deep dentinal resin tags inside the dentinal tubules. The combined dentin–resin layer (consisting of penetrating resinous tags) has been termed as hybrid layer. It effectively seals the dentinal tubules and prevents DH. Newer bonding agents modify the smear layer and incorporate it in into the hybrid layer. Miglani S, Aggarwal V, Ahuja B. Dentin hypersensitivity: Recent trends in management. J Conserv Dent. 2010

One of the most complex challenges dental professionals face during restorative procedures to achieve a strong, long-lasting bond with dentine. Unlike enamel, dentine is more porous, with high water content, making it difficult for adhesives to form a reliable bond. This often leads to issues like microleakage, postoperative sensitivity, and compromised restoration longevity. Most adhesives are comparatively hydrophobic, tending to separate from water. With too much water on the prepared surface, the adhesive can't achieve uniform coverage, leaving gaps that may weaken the bond and may cause post-operative sensitivity 💡 Enter Prime & Bond from Dentsply Sirona! 💡 Here's why it's a game-changer: 🔹 Active Moisture control Prime&Bond universal™Adhesive tackles this challenge head-on with advanced technology that enhances adhesion to both enamel and dentine that overcomes the surface tension of water and spreads across dentin and into dentinal tubules to form an even, homogeneous layer. Upon air-drying, the solvent and water evaporate together, leaving a consistent coating of adhesive across the entire surface to ensure a strong bond.

🦷 Implant-retained dentures bring a host of advantages compared to traditional dentures: 🔹 With implant-retained dentures, patients can chew, speak, and smile confidently, knowing their dentures are securely in place. 🔹 Unlike conventional dentures, implant-retained dentures don't require adhesive for stability. They fit securely onto implants which are placed into the jaw bone and act like roots for the teeth placed on top, providing greater confidence and reducing the risk of slippage or discomfort. 🔹 Implant-retained dentures offer a more natural appearance and feel compared to traditional dentures. They blend seamlessly with the natural gum line and facial structure, reducing bone loss and enhancing aesthetics. 🔹 With proper care, implant-retained dentures can last many years. The implants provide a sturdy foundation for the dentures, reducing the likelihood of breakage or wear. 🔹 The stability and functionality of implant-retained dentures can significantly boost the wearer's confidence. They can eat, speak, and smile without worrying about denture movement or discomfort, leading to improved self-esteem and quality of life. Overall, implant-retained dentures offer a reliable, long-term solution for patients seeking improved comfort, stability, and confidence in their daily lives. 💬 Book a consultation today to learn if this treatment is for you. #DentalProsthetics #ProstheticDentistry #Dentures #ImplantRetainedDentures

why choose self-ligating bracket? Metal brackets(Manual ligating) 1. ligature ties needed to hold the wire 2. can be decorated with colorful ligature ties 3. more friction, longer treatment time 4. The follow-ups are usually every 4 weeks. Metal brackets (Self ligating) 1. a special built-in clip holds the wire 2. less friction, more flexibility, shorter treatment time 3. less hurts from wires to the oral soft tissues, and also orthodontists’ fingers 4. less discomfort from the patients, easier maintenance for oral hygiene and gum health 5. The follow-ups are usually every 8 weeks. Headway® Orthodontics has almost 10 years experience in designing and manufacturing metal brackets and also self-ligating brackets.
