What role did corporatism play in shaping Estado Novo? In Portugal, the Estado Novo's corporatist system was established by the 1933 Constitution. By 1974, about 2,700 organisations, including Casas do Povo and Casas dos Pescadores, were created. This system was vital for the regime’s stability and revealed the complex relationship between state power and societal interests. #SolRem #SolRemProject #Corporatism

Impacts & Policy Briefs the road to overwhelming amount of luxury. 904 000 000 000 euro i året. Nine-hundred-and-four BILLION Euros a year to share Norways 'share' of corruption based on average numbers approx 11 BILLION Euros a year. Exchange rate 1 Euro = 11,78 NOKs Population EU + EEC = 448 million people #romsenter #esa #nfd #corruption #integrity #eu #leyen Corruption and severe lack of integrity cost West Europe almost one thousand billions Euro per year. No big surprise really apart from the huge amount of cash involved. Who you know determines whether you receive research funding from the EU Want EU money? Then you should have gotten it before, you should know the right people – and preferably you should hire your own specialists to describe why the project is useful. https://lnkd.in/dhWMQ-FU

The New Zealand Association of Scientists (NZAS) has completed its submission to the Royal Society Te Apārangi (RSTA) on the Society's proposed governance restructuring. NZAS firmly opposes the proposed change and believes that if carried out, it would greatly diminish the standing and effectiveness of the RSTA in its important duties. Our comments and links to the release can be found at the link below. "The proposed changes undermine the intent of the legislation establishing RSTA with electoral colleges for constituencies deserving representation at the level of governance. Positions on the newly created advisory board would be a demotion as well with a frustrating and convoluted path to any information or influence." "Māori, early career researchers, member-based organisation, and regional branches would all be effectively demoted. This would undermine over a decade of great progress and improvement at RSTA." "The most deeply concerning aspect has been the inability of the RSTA to see that the changes, as well as the consultation itself, violate the accepted conventions of Te Tiriti The Treaty of Waitangi. These responsibilities are embedded in the constitutional framework within which the Act establishing the RSTA sits. https://lnkd.in/ggRudV5q

Today, Halvard Fredriksen, published a new blog post on EFTA studies. In May 2022, the Norwegian government appointed an independent committee to review Norway’s experience as a member of the European Economic Area, a decade after the last review. In spring 2024, as the EEA Agreement celebrates its 30th year in force, the committee handed its report over to the government. The full report is in Norwegian, but an English summary is available. This blog post aims to provide some context, highlight certain findings that might arguably be considered to provide some new insights, recommend a number of external reports commissioned by the Committee, and comment briefly on the reception of the Committee’s report. In her insightful interview for CEE Legal Matters, our partner Ana Novaković Stipaničev discusses dynamic activities across multiple sectors in Croatia in 2024, highlighting M&A activities in retail, wholesale, pharmaceuticals, IT, construction, and hospitality. Ana also emphasizes the importance of the recently voted real estate tax law which addresses high real estate prices, the inability of regular citizens to purchase their own property, and the outcomes of short-term tourism rentals leaving properties empty most of the year. Furthermore, Ana explains how the European Court of Justice ruling in the Kolin case raised an important issue about companies from non-EU countries that regularly bid for public procurement contracts within the EU, particularly in the construction sector. #kps #CEE #CEELegalMatters
