What’s the biggest obstacle people have with networking, or reaching out to people? Themselves. Not actually doing it. Or hearing a “No” or no answer from one person, then giving up. You can design a great job search strategy. Target your dream role and company. Find interesting people to connect with on LinkedIn. But to really reach out - and ask for a meeting? (In a genuine way, of course) That’s tough. That’s why I was so happy to get this message from one of my coaching clients. I’m so proud of her for taking the leap, overcoming her own fears about networking, and building an authentic connection with someone in a role and company she admired. And it worked out! She got a coffee meeting at the office of one of her dream places to work. My role as a coach, and what happens in 1:1 coaching sessions, is to dig deep into what’s stopping you from networking - what your fears are - and more importantly, what your dreams are. What possibilities will meeting new people open up for you? Creating possibilities and a positive vision of the future is a core part of the coaching process. Does networking feel forced and uncomfortable to you? Think of it as just having genuine conversations. 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳: Nearly any connection can lead to opportunities if you’re authentic. 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟰 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: 1/ Who do you genuinely want to connect with? 2/ What value can you offer in the conversation? 3/ How can you make the interaction meaningful? 4/ How will you follow up to maintain the relationship? If you can’t answer those questions, you’re just going through the motions. And it all starts with being yourself. ♻️ Share this in your network. 🔔 Follow Ramkumar R for more insights. #ramsabode #coaching #ceocoaching

TIFF TIPS: 3 Ways to navigate a networking event in the face of Impostor Syndrome include: 🧐 BE CURIOUS: My Impostor shows when I feel the spotlight on me. When I'm curious the spotlight is on others, so I learn more and go where the connections take us. 🎁 BE PRESENT: Instead of focusing on what I need (like a job or advice), I focus on the moment to better read the room and any writing on the wall that can guide me to the right person at the right time. 🌟 BE YOURSELF: I have been called too serious and too goofy. The truth is that when I am the most myself (focused on others, present in the moment, and having fun), I shine, creating both opportunity and a way for me to stand out from the crowd. #coachingforwomen #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #womenpower #womenwholift #coachingforwomen #coaching #careeradvice
