Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and ensure continuous skill development of team members. 3. Channel Management Oversee distributor appointment, management, and performance evaluation. Ensure the proper implementation of trade schemes and offers across the zone. Build and nurture relationships with key channel partners, distributors, and retailers to ensure smooth operations and high service levels. 4. Market Development Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for market share growth. Plan and execute market activation and promotional campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team. Ensure optimal product visibility and placement at retail outlets. 5. Operations & Compliance Ensure timely stock replenishment and maintain optimum inventory levels at distribution points. Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to the zonal budget. Ensure compliance with all company policies, processes, and statutory requirements. 6. Reporting & Insights Prepare and present regular sales performance reports, including market feedback and insights, to senior management. Real life. A short summary as an example - how one goes places over 3 decades of work. 1. Career began in Mumbai (Maharashtra) at company head quarters. 2. Was soon sent for field work across North India based in Delhi. 3. After a quick stint in Delhi, got promoted and transferred to Ahmedabad (Gujarat). First non-metro town to live in. 4. Learnt a lot in business in Gujarat before work brought back to Mumbai. 5. Got an opportunity as branch sales head in Agra (UP). Smallest town to have stayed in. Learnt how business outcome gets more effective once personalised. 6. Picked up a higher role in a FMCG as region sales head in Gujarat based out of Ahmedabad. 7. Next level opportunity came in form of all India sales & marketing head in Vadodara (Gujarat). Got exposed to east, west, north, south and central zones. 8. Found a work opportunity to return home and be with parents in Gurugram (Haryana). 9. Mumbai was calling again for very interesting and diverse work. 10. Been working from Mumbai though travelling across various continents in the world for work. Truly privileged to be living in our great and diverse country.
