This post is circulating LinkedIn and honestly it makes me sad. It says: "If you don't come out of a quarantine with a new skill, then you lacked discipline." I think a more accurate version would be... "If you come out of this quarantine with: - your health - your sanity - a new appreciation for teachers because it's hard to homeschool kids - a new appreciation for restaurants because it's hard to cook every meal - a new appreciation for doctors, nurses & service people risking their lives - a new appreciation for seeing your loved ones in person Then you're human and you're not lacking whatsoever." For those who gain a new skill: congrats. You are stronger than me. Work can be a nice escape but most days I find myself worrying about my parents, my sisters and my fiancee who has asthma - and there are people who are carrying much much more on their shoulders than I am. So how about it? Can we please drop the "hustlers mentality" as we all work through this pandemic in our own ways? Thanks #coronavirus #workfromhome #career #advice
Well said!
Honestly, posts like the one shown here scream of a lack of self-confidence and a need for personal validation by putting others down.
We also have been humbled by this experience as many thought we are immune from basic biology (especially in the west). That notion is out the window. If anything we have learned we're all interconnected and we need to fight common enemies as a world community. Thanks for posting.
"Then you're human and you're not lacking whatsoever." Fact check: TRUE
Well said! I agree.
Great perspective. Thanks!
Very true
Positive 😊
Thank you! I have struggled with this idea throughout this whole quarantine. With hearing of coworkers' and friends' loved ones passing away, worried about my own grandparents who already have health concerns, knowing I will be jobless in July and moving. I still felt like those stresses had no weight on my ability to come out of all of this with some skill that would "level me up". Thank you for sharing this. It honestly helped me feel lighter right now.
