We recently collaborated with HID and NeoMotion to equip and train 100 #PwDs using NeoMotion's innovative mobility solutions. Check out this video to witness how this partnership transformed their lives, enabling them to establish a sustainable income stream as delivery partners for Zomato. If your #CSR team wants to explore how Give Grants can support you in your impact journey, do reach out! #Inclusion #Corporatesocialresponsibility #socialimpact #techforgood #socialchange
A large majority of persons with disabilities (#pwd) suffer from mobility issues. India's infrastructure and systems aren't yet designed for them, leading to an extremely tough existence, especially when they come from an underprivileged background. Think access to education, employment, or something as basic as regular public spaces. We recently collaborated with HID and NeoMotion as the M&E partner on this impactful CSR project that not only provides employment (delivery partner at Zomato) but also a life of independence and dignity - things most of us take for granted but are a distant dream for underprivileged persons with disabilities. I urge you to watch the video to know more. I'm certain their stories are sure to bring you hope and a smile. PS: If you're a #CSR leader, and want to explore working with Give Grants in your #impact journey, we'd love to chat. We're thrilled to share that EldersIndia is a contender for the Rotary Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (#DEI) Awards! 🏆 Our commitment to an inclusive workplace has brought us here, and we're eager to connect with organisations that share our vision for positive change. 𝐀 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐄𝐈 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬—𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝. Here's why they're essential to any #DEI strategy: - They're a large, expanding part of the workforce. - Caregiving impacts people across all demographics, often more so for women, affecting their career trajectories. - The dual demands of work and caregiving can significantly affect one's health and wellbeing. - Many caregivers don't feel able to speak up about their challenges. - Supporting caregivers is crucial not just ethically, but also for effective talent management. At EldersIndia, we integrate eldercare support into corporate structures, seeing it as essential, not just a trend. Our initiatives like the Eldercare Platform and sensitisation sessions are making a real difference. #DEIAwards #InclusionMatters #SupportingCaregivers #EldersIndiaStrong Reema Bose Suri Raghunandan K S Shilpi Singh

"I am endeavouring to see God through service of humanity; for I know that God is neither in heaven, nor down below, but in everyone." - Mahatma Gandhi On this #GandhiJayanti, October 2, 2024, we honour Gandhi Ji’s legacy of equity with the launch of SASHAKT 2047— a bold roadmap for #DisabilityInclusion as India approaches its centenary in 2047. As India turns 100, we must achieve freedom from the fear of disability and aging. True progress demands a fully accessible India—#SUGAMYA—in both physical and digital infrastructure. Gandhi Ji’s teachings remind us that no society can thrive by leaving anyone behind. With 15% of India’s population living with disabilities, it’s time to shift the narrative from subsidy seekers to contributors, with Divyangjan playing pivotal roles as CXOs, founders, scholars, and innovators. Divyangjan is not just a participant but a pioneer who has reshaped our world—neurodiverse minds have given us aeroplanes, electricity, cars, and smartphones. #SASHAKT2047 calls to empower these change-makers, ensuring they lead India's future success. We must rise and build an inclusive nation where every individual is empowered to thrive. The time to step up is now for an India where no one is left behind. #GandhiJayanti #DisabilityInclusion #SUGAMYAIndia #FreedomFromFear #Empowerment #JusticeForAll #DivyangjanPower #RiseTogether #DisabilityIsStrength #SocialJustice #India2047 #InclusionMatters #AccessibleIndia NITI Aayog Global Disability Inclusion, LLC Global Disability Innovation Hub Global Disability Summit Employers for Change The World Bank United Nations Sarthak Educational Trust Accessible Media Inc. Hi Friends, Great initiative by EnAble India and SELCO Foundation. Creating innovative solutions for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) especially in rural areas. More details about eligibility, timelines, grants are available in the link below. In our experience of working with Persons with Disabilities, almost 70% come from Tier-2, Tier-3 cities and rural areas and if we can create solutions that will help them earn a decent income to lead a life with dignity in their native place, that is a great solution which is sustainable. I am hoping many of these solutions can create/ uplift entrepreneurs with disabilities who can provide employment to persons without disabilities as well. Baskaran Arumugam: We should explore this through WinVinaya InfoSystems - since NGOs are not eligible for this program. EnAble India, SELCO Foundation: I loved the fact that you have shared this poster not just in English but in several Indian Languages. Very apt for reaching the right audiences. One suggestion. I reviewed the poster in Tamil and I think, the choice of words and sentence formation can be improved. Kindly check with an expert in Tamil. Probably you might want to check that for other Indian Languages as well. Thanks a lot.

🌟 Unlocking Potential: The Power of Disability Inclusion in the Workplace The story of Srikant Bolla is truly inspiring and encouraging in this regard. Srikant Bolla is an Indian entrepreneur and a role model for resilience and determination. Born visually impaired in a small village in Andhra Pradesh, Srikant defied societal biases and became a pioneer in fostering inclusion and sustainability through his ventures. Srikant established Bollant Industries, a company dedicated to manufacturing eco-friendly and biodegradable products. His company focuses on providing employment opportunities to people with disabilities, turning inclusivity into a core business value. As rightly pointed out by him in the video, instead of focusing on just providing education or healthcare there is a need to provide employment as well. This can not only provide livelihoods but also integrate PwD into the economy which fosters wellbeing and increases self esteem as well. His journey inspires organizations to embrace diversity and promote inclusion of PwD, not just as a compliance measure but as a pathway to innovation and growth. 💡 Disability inclusion shouldn't just be a compliance requirement under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. By embracing inclusivity, organizations can tap into an underutilized talent pool, bringing diverse perspectives that foster innovation, broaden impact and reflect the communities they serve. 🔆 While challenges such as accessibility, workplace team integration and societal perceptions persist, many companies like TATA Steel, RPG, Godrej Properties, Bank of Baroda, and Mahindra Logistics have set inspiring examples. These organizations have successfully hired Persons with Disabilities (PwD) across spectrum into varied roles based on their skills and abilties with over 80% affirming high productivity and exceptional quality of work. 🔔 The societal perceptions of PwD as being 'deficient' can change to uniquely skilled, if organizations adopt inclusive practices. By providing reasonable accommodations and equitable opportunities, businesses can unlock their potential, empower communities, and drive long-term value. ✅ Inclusion isn’t just good ethics or just be a trendy buzzword to follow. A commitment to inclusion can be integrating and enabling communities by providing equitable opportunities to all. Let’s create workplaces where everyone belongs, contributes, and thrives. #DisabilityInclusion #DiversityAndInclusion #AccessibleWorkplaces #Innovation #PwDRights #InclusiveLeadership #DEI VC : INK Talks Data & egs. : Article by Yumna Mobin ETHRWorld dated 6th Dec 2024

One Minute Story: I participated in the 2019 Airtel Delhi Marathon as a disabled athlete and was invited to a special lunch for guests on the second floor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Unfortunately, the lift wasn't working, and we (I and other distinguished achievers with disability) had to wait for it to be fixed. While waiting, a politician who had previously served as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Statistic and Implementation as well as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports made an insensitive comment about using the stairs or escalator instead. He also said, “If Arunima Sinha, an amputee can climb Mt. Everest why you can’t use stairs.” He was arrogant and unapologetic about it. I reminded him that people with disabilities cannot use stairs and escalators, and I was ready to argue with him but he left quickly when he sensed the risk to his reputation as I was clearly agitated and there was a media presence around. We must prioritize the implementation of better policies and action plans for people with disabilities. Mere lip service won't do. Empathy and sensitization workshops for politicians in decision-making positions are needed, and we must demand that they attend. Terms like "Divyang" or "Specially abled" are just an attempt to show off political correctness without any real action. We need concrete action and change, not merely empty promises. Our voices must be heard, and we must demand the necessary changes to support and empower people with disabilities. #generalelections2024 #inclusionforpwd #disabilityinclusion #sensitizationtraining #empathy

In today’s rapidly evolving corporate landscape, fostering diversity and inclusivity in the workplace is not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity. Inclusive hiring for people with disabilities represents a key opportunity that many organisations overlook. Among the diverse groups that enrich our workforce, People With Disabilities (PWDs) are often overlooked. Yet, they represent a significant and valuable candidate pool. India has around 30 million PWDs, of which 13 million people are employable, yet only 3.4 million have been employed in the organised and unorganised sectors, via government schemes or who are self-employed. Traditional recruitment methods often unintentionally create barriers for PWDs, leading to their underrepresentation. This not only restricts their access to opportunities but also hampers businesses from gaining varied insights and abilities. If you wish to learn more, check out the detailed article.
