The holidays are a time for family, joy, and togetherness — but for many children in foster care, this season can be a reminder of the challenges they face. This holiday season, Nevada CASA is committed to ensuring that every child in foster care feels valued, supported, and heard. 🌟✨ Here’s how you can help: 1️⃣ Become a CASA Volunteer – Your voice can make a difference in a child’s life by advocating for their well-being in court. It only takes one caring adult to change a child's future. 2️⃣ Donate – Help provide holiday gifts, essentials, and comfort items for children in foster care who may not have the same access to resources and support. 3️⃣ Share the Message – Help raise awareness about the challenges faced by kids in foster care. The more people who know, the more we can help!

That's not just a number. That's how many children in Oregon experienced foster care last year. That's 7,238 reasons we care. 7,238 reasons we show up. 7,238 reasons we work together. Behind that number are real kids who need: Therapy to heal from trauma (Kinship House) A voice in court fighting for their future (CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, & Tillamook Counties) Essential resources and mentorship during critical transitions (Project 48 Inc) A safe place to build confidence and access vital resources. (Project Lemonade) One child might need all of these services. All 7,238 deserve them. This is why we've joined forces. Because every single one of these 7,238 children deserves a complete support system. During this giving season, join us in supporting organizations who serve youth experiencing foster care in our community. Donate now to CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, & Tillamook Counties, Kinship House, Project Lemonade, and Project 48 Inc, all featured in Willamette Week's Give!Guide.

Have you ever seen the ripples created by a single stone skipping across water? Just like those ripples, one small act of kindness can create a lasting impact. 🌈🎒 Donating a new bag to a child or youth in foster care is more than just a gift; it’s a powerful gesture that can uplift and inspire our entire community. 👜✨ 💡 Here’s how a new bag can make a difference: 1️⃣ Restores Dignity: No child should have to carry their belongings in a trash bag. A new bag provides a sense of worth and belonging. 2️⃣ Builds Confidence: Personal possessions help foster children develop self-esteem and identity. 3️⃣ Encourages Education: A new backpack can boost excitement for school and support academic success. 4️⃣ Strengthens Community: Acts of kindness foster generosity and compassion, creating a nurturing environment for all. By donating, you're not just giving a bag; you're giving hope, dignity, and a brighter future to children in need. Let’s come together to support our youngest and most vulnerable. 🌍 Join us in making a ripple of change. Help us #EndTheTrashBag and show foster children they are valued and supported. Together, we can create a community where everyone thrives. 🤝💖 Read more about how you can make a difference on our website: https://bit.ly/3VEQYvA

As youth experiencing foster care get closer to their 18th birthday, they get closer to aging out. If some type of permanency hasn’t been achieved, the future can be totally uncertain. Without a support system, or a defined opportunity to get a job or continue education, the future is not just uncertain – in many cases, it’s set up to fail and fall into the downstream cycles we’re passionately trying to disrupt. For many, instability has been a constant companion. Some have never known the stability and security that we might take for granted. For 47% of current foster youth, homelessness isn’t an idea. It’s an experience they’ve personally faced with their biological families before being removed. Cut to their 18th birthday, and they find themselves in a position that mirrors the circumstances of their childhood. Here’s the sobering truth: without intervention, the pattern of homelessness may persist, perpetuating the cycle for generations to come. Our programs were developed to break these cycles through mentorship, and radical community. We're empowering youth to claim their futures despite their past. You can take part in this work in a life-changing way. When hundreds of individuals like you come together to invest $10/month, $25/month, $50/month – powerful and sustainable change becomes possible. Generational change becomes possible. You can use your influence to change the statistics. Will you join us today? This holiday season, a donation to AFS foster children and families can bring joy, comfort, and hope when they need it most. For many youth in foster care, the holidays can stir feelings of loneliness and uncertainty. But your generosity can change that—by offering them the warmth of community, the gift of joy, and the promise of brighter days ahead. Your donation will help provide essential items and meaningful gifts, showing these children and families that they are not alone. Imagine the happiness your gift can bring—a smile on a child’s face or a family feeling seen and supported during this special season. When you give to Foster Joy, you do more than meet immediate needs—you inspire others to act, raise awareness about the realities of foster care, and build a culture of compassion that impacts lives far beyond the holidays. Your contribution today is more than a gift; it’s a lifeline of hope. Will you consider donating to create lasting change for foster children and their caregivers? Together, we can foster joy, hope, and connection for those who need it most. #FosterJoy #corporatephilanthropy

Harcourts Foundation Grant for Special Books A recent Harcourts Foundation grant to ‘A Better Life for Foster Kids Incorporated’ has enabled the inclusion of two trauma-informed books in 400 Crisis Cases for children entering care. A Better Life For Foster Kids, Inc. is a Gippsland-based charity that supports children and carers in the out-of-home-care system. In total, 10 children in every 1000 in Victoria are on care and protection orders (14,947 children across Victoria, AIHW 2021). The majority of children enter out-of-home care with just the clothes they are wearing. The Crisis Cases are wheeled suitcases which provide children of all ages with approximately 55 items of clothing along with toiletries, hand-made dolls, and activity books especially written for children entering care. A $2,500 donation can play a crucial role in training and licensing a new foster family, helping them provide care to children in desperate need of safety and stability. With the U.S. currently facing a foster care crisis, there is an urgent need for more qualified families to step up and care for children who have been removed from unsafe environments. The process of becoming a licensed foster parent involves training, home studies, and background checks—requirements that can be costly and time-consuming for families. A $2,500 donation can cover these expenses, ensuring that a new family is properly prepared to provide a loving, stable home. By supporting the training and licensing of foster families, this donation directly addresses the growing need for safe placements and helps ensure that more children can find the care they deserve during times of uncertainty. --- To support the Compass mission during Give Where You Live 2024, check out the following steps! ONLINE: visit https://lnkd.in/gm5A8snJ to donate by midnight on December 5th, 2024 CHECK OR IN-PERSON: Send or deliver your gift to Compass (514 W. 11th St., Kearney, NE 68845) *Checks should be made out to Kearney Area Community Foundation in the memo. In-person donations must arrive at the Compass office by 5pm on December 5th, 2024*

Foster children need your ongoing support Foster children often struggle with filling their ongoing needs, especially as they're growing. Like all kids, children in foster care need new shoes when their feet grow, new clothes when they wear them out, glasses, diapers, computers, school supplies, and nutritious food. So much of the time, these ongoing needs are a real challenge for foster parents or group homes to meet fully. You can help support the ongoing needs of a foster child through a monthly or yearly donation: $54 - Support a Foster Child For a Month $648 - Support a Foster Child For a Year You can change a foster child's life through your ongoing donations, helping provide essential goods and support for them.
