HYT Uganda has achieved many sustainable initiatives since it was founded! Our impact is both climate-friendly and community focused. 🌍✨🇺🇬 By using eco-friendly ISSB blocks, we reduce deforestation, cut carbon emissions (the equivalent of 17,000 flights from London to New York!) and promote sustainable building. We have saved over 3 acres of trees, and the One Million Litres projects helped provide clean water to the Bidibidi settlements in northern Uganda. By training locals, we empower communities to live in a more sustainable future whilst creating lasting employment opportunities. 💚🌳 #sustainablebuilding #cleanwater #sustainablefuture #communities #hytuganda

Vulnerable groups such as migrants, #women, #youth, and differently-abled persons in rural communities in Ghana often face the risk of being excluded from the #carbon benefits generated by #climate initiatives, despite their critical role in #sustainable #cocoa production and #forest management. These groups frequently lack access to the resources and decision-making processes that could improve their #livelihoods and enhance their participation in emissions reduction programmes. In response to this challenge, Solidaridad West Africa, as the lead implementing agency in partnership with Tropenbos Ghana, is excited to announce the implementation of the Enhancing Access to Benefits while Lowering Emissions (EnABLE) Programme, a transformative initiative funded by The World Bank. This programme aims to ensure that local farming communities have equitable access to both carbon and non-carbon benefits derived from the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme (GCFRP). 75 000+ trees planted. 1,413 communities transformed. One enduring vision. Together with Food & Trees for Africa, we've brought greenery to communities and schools across South Africa. 🌱 This initiative plays a critical role as a carbon sink, actively combating climate change. We’re excited to build on this success and achieve even greater milestones with an inspiring new project that we look forward to sharing with you in the new year. In Marc Pillay, our CEO's words, "This partnership has been a cornerstone of our corporate social responsibility. Seeing the tangible benefits in communities is incredibly rewarding." #KonicaMinoltaSouthAfrica #Sustainability #FTFA

For the last 2-3 years, #Arusha City has been a destination place for me being the home for East African County and Local Governments Association (EACLGA) and the East African Community, and such a place of warmth and calm it is for me. Creating Liveable Cities is the business of Urban Local Governments supported and in close collaboration with National Governments and supported by the Regional levels as well. Cities are not just about the local communities, but also about the transnational interests as we increasingly integrated in the pursuit of economic growth and prosperity. Underneath it all lies the key principle of "Ubuntu" and how it is given a face in the vast interactions that come with the urban development space. Mayor Maximillan Iranqhe and his hardworking team continue to provide the Leadership it takes and this story speaks to this. Cities and Local Governments remain the epicentres and true drivers of socio- economic transformation for development. Let us continue to invest in strengthening their institutional and organizational capacities. #SDG11 #SustainableUrbanization #NewUrbanAgenda UN SDG Action Campaign Strong Cities Network ICLEI Africa Lucy Slack Claire Frost United Nations European Union African Union Bloomberg Cities Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) Expo City Dubai

In light of our recent research focusing on the impact of extreme climate change on youth health in informal settlements, the current flooding across Kenya has brought these challenges to the forefront. 🌧️ From the emergence of counterfeit rivers in Nairobi to the devastating floods, communities are navigating environmental hazards daily. 🚧 The waste carried downstream further threatens these communities, emphasizing the pressing need for #sustainable solutions. ...........🔺Creating life is a risky business🔺........ 💥I know waiting isn’t the most thrilling experience—kind of like waiting for a slow-loading website that’s also watching you like a hawk. 💥Why would fishing villages be of interest to me? Who cares anyway? It's tiring stretching from one end of horizon-blue to the other dark web skyline. Some days get hot, some days chilly, others wow. 💥But we keep working tirelessly, shifting our commute from island to island with a handful of medical help we can afford. 💥Meanwhile, many have died in #kiteezi because #KCCA failed to find secure colonies for garbage dumbing. Every kind of garbage can be recycled but our country has failed to understand what sustainability is. {My sincere condolences to your loss & grief}. 💥Finally, I have to say; dear all, you’re not glued to only one niche, like it's your prison cell. You can do something to help. 💥Guess what? It's a shame if we keep doing nothing. People are mighty sick. People keep losing lives. If you’re not planning to help, please think twice & let’s keep it real. #sustainability #futurism #wasterecycling #wastemanagement #youthday2024 #youthforchange #climatechange #kiteezi #kalangala treats4kalangala Ntulume Magno Ministry of Health - Uganda
