Recent research conducted by Transport & Environment reveals that the average car on European roads has become half a centimeter wider each year, negatively affecting safety and available parking spaces. This is primarily due to consumer preference for SUVs over compact cars. Transoft Solutions's innovative solutions- AutoTURN and TrafxSAFE - enable traffic engineers to investigate the impact of this trend of ever-wider vehicles on maneuverability and safety in tight urban areas. Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) are three popular drivetrain configurations, each suited to specific driving needs. RWD sends power to the rear wheels, ensuring better weight distribution and enhanced performance, often used in sports cars and trucks. However, it can struggle with traction on icy or wet roads. AWD delivers power to all four wheels, ensuring superior grip in diverse conditions. This makes it ideal for SUVs and vehicles designed for all-weather versatility. FWD-powers the front wheels, offering a simpler design with better fuel efficiency. It’s most commonly found in sedans and compact cars due to its practicality. #CarDrivetrain #RearWheelDrive #AllWheelDrive #FrontWheelDrive #AWDvsRWD #VehiclePerformance #CarTech #DrivetrainExplained #AutomotiveEngineering #CarTips

Works great alone; works even better together: Most electric cars use a single drive unit, placed on either the front or the rear axle. And while “just” a main drive is sufficient for many vehicles, certain scenarios – like high-performance models, off-road and AWD cars – require additional features such as driving dynamics, better traction or better efficiency. OEM therefore have a few things to consider during development. One thing they can rely on, however, is the ZF eDrive System. Thanks to its modular platform approach, it can be designed either as a main drive, as a secondary drive, or in tandem – entirely according to the specifications and requirements of our customers. A great first and second choice, then. #ElectricMobility #ElectricDrivetrain #ElectricVehicles
