The digital ministry is hoping to push for a “new policy” involving the rollout of private 5G networks aimed at encouraging greater adoption of 5G technology by various industries. Digital minister Gobind Singh Deo said his ministry will discuss the matter with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, according to Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA). “How are we going to empower and encourage the adoption of 5G networks when it comes to industrial test cases? “When you have industries that require this technology and the technology is available, then I think the government has a role to play to ensure there is access to this technology. “This 5G private network enterprise is bespoke (specific) and can be catered to meet the requirements of a particular industry. “Every industry will have its own business modules and this is why private networks can approach the necessary parties and propose to them what is required. “It can be a network design that specifically tailors to their requirements,” the minister was quoted as saying, adding that this could spur digital transformation in sectors like health, manufacturing and agriculture. Gobind spoke after visiting Clarion Malaysia Sdn Bhd's private 5G-enabled smart manufacturing plant in Penang. The company which specialises in in-vehicle infotainment had showcased its successful trial of Malaysia’s first 5G-enabled manufacturing line, powered by YTL Communications’ Yes private 5G network. Gobind added that other industrial areas in the nation should get ready to adopt private 5G networks. “5G is not just for consumers. It will play a significant role in driving productivity and competitiveness for Malaysia. “Having world-class public and private 5G networks will help drive significant economic gains for the country.” https://lnkd.in/gtqXtptQ

Did you know that the standards for 6G networks are expected to be ready by 2029-2030? While Europe is still catching up on its 5G deployment targets, the industry is already looking ahead to the next generation of mobile networks. Jan Ellsberger, the new Director-General of ETSI, shared that 6G won't be a huge leap but rather a smooth evolution from 5G. This means a more seamless and advanced connectivity experience without the drastic changes we saw moving from 4G to 5G. What does this mean for us? Faster, more reliable connections that could power everything from AI to quantum technologies. But with Europe lagging on its 5G rollout, will we be ready to fully embrace 6G? If you're curious about the future of mobile networks and what this could mean for the tech landscape, I highly recommend reading this article I came across.
