What if fish skin could help heal burn wounds? 🐟💡 This fish skin bandage adheres directly to burn wounds. It reduces the need for frequent dressing changes. It integrates with the wound in 7-10 days and promotes healing with fewer visits and a single application in some cases. What makes it different from traditional method: ✅ Fewer dressing changes = less discomfort ✅ Supports natural tissue regeneration ✅ Cost-effective for patients & healthcare providers Video Credit: GiGadgets | Original footage: Voice of America #Innovation #MedTech #Healthcare Stay connected with the latest on #technology and #innovation by subscribing to the #CXOSpice newsletter (https://lnkd.in/gy2RJ9xg) or the #CXOSpice YouTube channel (https://lnkd.in/gnMc-Vpj). I love how innovative and cost-effective this method is.
Interesting medical use Helen Yu!
Does not sound very healthy for the fish though... It's unfortunate that we cannot come up with medical breakthroughs that heal people without harming others 💔
Exciting
My mom was a nurse at Virginia Mason Hospital burn unit. She removed the bandages daily. She said it was the worst job ever (she loved her job, just not hurting people) because it hurt the people so bad. She said she knew it was for their own good so they would heal but it was terribly hard to do the work. This looks like it has great potential. My mom burned her face when she removed a cup of water from a microwave. It exploded in her face. I went to the hospital while they were preparing to medivac her to Anchorage and then to Seattle. I would like to say the staff at the ER was understaffed, but they were not. They came into her room about once an hour. I sat by her and changed the wrap on her face every 10-15 minutes. I was putting cold wrap on her face and taking off when it got hot. I did this until 2am when they medevac'd her. Because they were worried about my mom's breathing, they didn't even give her pain killers. I can't imagine going to work and having to do this every day for my job. I hope this works. For the patients and their families. For the nurses and doctors, too. While it's always nice to save money, the best win is the patient care.
Mother Nature's been running the world's most advanced medical lab for billions of years - we're just finally paying attention.
It’s amazing that it can promote healing with fewer dressing changes and less discomfort.
Excellent work and innovation Helen Yu. Thanks for sharing
Wow, this is such a unique approach! The integration of natural materials like fish skin for wound healing is a prime example of how healthcare innovation can make a meaningful impact. I'm looking forward to seeing this technology grow.
