It's Mardi-Gras-at-the-theme-parks season again! Six Flags Fiesta Texas is (one of?) the first to start up this year - weekends now through March - proving once again that seasonal festivals are a great way to extend a park's shoulder seasons and drive repeat visits. The park has been open year-round for the last several seasons, but without the seasonal events of Holiday in the Park following Halloween or Mardi Gras leading into Spring Break, how successful would those shoulder seasons be? (Hypothetical question - the answer is probably somewhere in the middle.) These types of events are especially important during winter when the weather can be unpredictable (there was snow last night in San Antonio). Too cold to run some of the major rides? That's OK - the entertainment and seasonal festivities are there to pick up the slack. Summer Portfolio Updates Summer, summer, summertime! Time to sit back and unwind. We had to drop Will Smith’s famous summer tune here – it was hard not to! Alongside that, soaking in those feel-good vibes with lengthy sunlight hours and warm temperatures can make summertime the best time of the year. Cocktails, mocktails and all the delightful fruity desserts and ice cream treats (all in moderation, mind) can bring a smile to your face and palette. Halloween Horror Nights Premium Scream Night   As much as I sometimes lament the move towards the premiumization of theme parks, I can’t lie - I would be all over this if I was a Halloween Horror Nights fan.   This strikes me as a less dramatic premiumization push as well. Paying through the nose for a one-night VIP experience to see HHN with lower crowds is just that – a one-night event. It has no impact on the normal HHN experience - especially compared to other upcharges such as Express Pass.   So as a one-off, it touches the best of both worlds – VIP ticket revenue for Universal, acting as a de facto paid soft opening, and no impact to the standard Guest experience.   As long as this stays a one-off and doesn’t become the standard practice, this is a nice splurge that I think will see out instantly.   https://lnkd.in/eWf9uPbK #letsmakeplans #themedentertainment #themeparks #universalorlando #halloween #halloweenhorrornights
