Hosted at the Forschungszentrum Jülich facility in Germany, JUPITER- the world’s most powerful AI system is being built in collaboration with Eviden, NVIDIA, ParTec, and SiPearl Based on Eviden’s BullSequana XH3000 liquid-cooled architecture, it marks the debut of a quad NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip node configuration with a booster module comprising close to 24,000 NVIDIA GH200 Superchips interconnected with the NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform. JUPITER can deliver over 90 exaflops of performance for AI training — and 1 exaflop for high performance computing (HPC) applications, while consuming only 18.2 megawatts of power. The project focuses on solving a complex computational challenge to find the optimal architecture of electrical and mechanical systems. A colleague recently asked me, "What is a QuBit?" - referring to Quantum Computing. Many of you might also be wondering, "What is a QuBit?" ... Let me explain with an analogy, that I have used for years: Normally, a car drives on land and a boat floats on water - two separate devices. Now, imagine you have an amphibious car that can seamlessly switch between driving on land and floating on water at the same time. In conventional computing, we're used to the smallest piece of information called a BIT, which can be either 0 (like driving on land) or 1 (like floating on water). A QuBIT, however, can be both 0 and 1 at the SAME TIME, similar to how an amphibian car can exist in a very watery, muddy land where it’s kind of both on land and in water at once. This special ability is called SUPERPOSITION. It allows quantum computers to solve complex problems much faster than regular computers. So, a QuBit is like an amphibian car: Yes, it's a small but powerful component that can handle multiple states simultaneously (3 states, instead of only 2), paving the way for the future of computing! In a few years, we might have mini-super Quantum Computers in our pockets. For example, a quantum computer could tackle tasks, that would take millions or billions of years for conventional computers, in just seconds or hours. At Q2B, the companies have unveiled the winners of the Quantum Computing Challenge, an international initiative to identify and mature quantum solutions for the most promising mobility applications.
