I am looking to further understand the initiatives that hospital systems are implementing to incorporate socio-environmental indicators into patient care and how these indicators influence the allocation of outreach resources. Ascension recently achieved a $1.8 billion turnaround in 12 months following a $3 billion loss in 2023, showing signs of recovery. What a great approach to sustainable care which will undoubtedly enhance healthcare access by integrating efficient, eco-friendly practices and technologies, reducing costs, and improving care delivery. This approach should ensure long-term health system viability, making quality care more accessible. We witnessed this in metro Atlanta several years back with similar merger’s.

VIDEO. I watch a number of videos of various Winnipeg, Manitoba, hospitals, and I learn about healthcare approaches in the province. How over the 2 past centuries the merger of 3 hospitals into Winnipeg's biggest hospital, the Winnipeg Health Science Centre, HSC for short. The Women's hospital, completely in glass so that there is a feeling of connection to the outside and the community. The biggest palliative centre in another hospital, the fireworks displays on New Year's by the Riverside Hospital, with citizens coming to see it and causing traffic lines. It is very interesting learning about hospitals across Canada in the different provinces and the different approaches and philosophies that each hospital has which is represented in the design of the hospital.

Ever wondered what the true waiting time picture looks like? Here's NHS England's own data, used as part of the "Further Faster" programme which analyses waiting according to different cohorts of Trusts in either wave 1, wave 2 or not in the FF programme. Trusts in wave 1 have made the most progress in reducing long waits, those not in the programme have made the least progress overall. But as the graphic shows, more people than ever are being seen within 18 weeks, its just that many more people are being referred now than they were in 2007, and especially post-Covid. With this level of demand, we cannot expect what worked in 2007 to work now with the added demand, so we need to use a whole array of strategies to tackle these backlogs. Breaking new ground for healthcare in North Kent. We are pleased to announce that works have officially commenced on the North Kent Community Diagnostic Centre at Livingstone Community Hospital, in partnership with Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. This new 1,160m² permanent modular facility will expand the Trust’s diagnostic capacity, enabling up to 130,000 additional tests annually. With construction well underway at our specialist manufacturing centre in Gloucestershire, we remain on track for a Summer 2025 handover. The County of Santa Clara and HCA Healthcare have officially signed an agreement for the County to acquire Regional Medical Center (RMC) for $150 million. This transition, expected to finalize on April 1, 2025, will integrate RMC into the Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH) system. What This Means: - Restoration of Level II Trauma Care immediately after the County assumes operations. - Plans to reinstate STEMI, comprehensive stroke services, and Labor and Delivery (previously closed in 2020). - Continued access to critical emergency and specialized healthcare services for East San José residents. RMC has served the community for over 60 years, earning national recognition as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades for three consecutive years. With this acquisition, the County aims to strengthen healthcare access and ensure the highest quality of care for all.
