As an entrepreneur, everything I’ve been built throughout the years have been built in “bootstrap mode”, so, any pitch done was directly to a Client. Pitching for a different audience (investors and partners) is something out of my confort zone. And to be out of your confort zone is something amazing - it makes you surprise yourself. The first pitch will not be amazing, nor the second, but after the third it kinda sounds like karate 🥋 Just have to be practiced.

Série Brasil Inova – How Brazil became Latin America's startup hotbed Brazil spearheads the startup ecosystem in Latin America, attracting global attention and concentrating a large part of the investments in the region. Today, the country concentrates 61% of venture capital investments and 77% of the startups in Latin America. From access to a large domestic market to a mature innovation ecosystem, the country offers an environment full of opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. According to data from the Brazilian Startup Association (Abstartups), the country has more than 12,000 active startups, covering several segments, including those in which Brazil is a reference, such as fintechs, healthtechs, edtechs and agritechs. 🇵🇹 🛑 🧮 🦄 This is a story about why in Portugal we must stop counting unicorns. Suspension of disbelief is critical for #startup success. We need to be bold in imagining and creating the future 🚀 However, imagination only produces fairy tales, to create true value we need execution. Getting millions in funding 💰 is an amazing tool to achieve growth 📈 Getting millions in funding is no success metric. 🙅♂️ Getting millions in funding to get thousands in revenue is the definition of a bad investment and a bad business. "There were several roads nearby, but it did not take Dorothy long to find the one paved with yellow bricks." There are always a multitude of paths before us, and finding the right one can be a daunting challenge... But what if someone had already laid down the bricks on the right road? It may seem unimaginable that someone would simply leave the keys to a treasure hanging on a wall, waiting for someone to grab them. Yet, in the world of Early-Stage VC investments, that might just be the case. A closer look at the US and Latam environments reveals significant discrepancies. Beyond differing levels of tech development, it's intriguing to observe the contrasting focus areas: why does Latam pay much more attention to fintech, while there is a biotech boom abroad? In the end, investment flows rarely begin anywhere other than the US. However, paying attention to what investors are doing there might just be our own yellow brick road to the Emerald City. Being part of this project was definitely a greatly enriching experience, and I can only appreciate our team's effort!
