When implementing automation, I’ve learned that not everyone embraces the idea of automating repetitive, tedious tasks. Initially, I found this puzzling. I assumed that streamlining these activities would be welcomed, allowing colleagues to focus more on the creative and strategic aspects of their roles. However, reality proved to be more complex. Resistance to automation often stems from deeper concerns, including: Fear of the Unknown: A lack of understanding about automation can make people hesitant to trust new processes. Maintenance Challenges: The prospect of maintaining scripts or learning new technical skills can feel overwhelming. Job Security Concerns: Automation can sometimes be perceived as a threat to roles, rather than a tool to enhance them. Understanding these perspectives has been invaluable. It’s a reminder that introducing change -- no matter how beneficial -- requires empathy, clear communication, and support. Automation is as much about people as it is about technology. Before diving into automation efforts, it’s important to first ask: do they truly value the automation, or are they simply seeking acknowledgment and understanding of the work they do?
