**Tower Crane Daily Safety Checks** **Daily Pre-Start Checks and Anti-Collision Tests** Before a tower crane is put into operation each day, it is essential to conduct thorough daily pre-start checks and anti-collision tests. This is especially crucial on days with adverse weather conditions, such as icy conditions, as frozen hoist drums and sheaves can prevent the crane from hoisting. **Pre-Start Checks** Pre-start checks involve a comprehensive inspection of the crane, including: * Checking tower bolts during the climb up * Visually inspecting the drums, sheaves, and other components on the back jib * Conducting additional visual checks of the crane's overall condition **Anti-Collision Tests** After completing the pre-start checks, the crane operators must perform anti-collision tests with any neighboring cranes. These tests ensure that the cranes can operate safely without colliding with each other. **Safety First** The commitment to safety demonstrated by the London Tower Cranes team at the Vistry Group project in Beam Park is commendable. Their thorough pre-start checks and anti-collision tests exemplify the importance of prioritizing safety in all crane operations. **Communication** Given the close proximity of three saddle jib cranes and two luffing cranes, it is crucial to maintain situational awareness before changing directions. In addition to radios, this site is equipped with Blockcam and block alert systems, which enhance safety and communication. ALWAYS KEEP THE WORK AREA CLEAR Construction sites use various cranes for all different types of work. Mobile cranes are a great option for sites that require repeated crane relocations and mobility. Safely operating a mobile crane is more than just pushing the controls to drive it around. Before any loads can be lifted, the site needs to be prepped and the crane needs to be properly set up. These steps prevent crane failures and potential injuries on the job site. Establish a safe work zone around the crane. Remove any objects that could obstruct the crane’s movement like wires and large rocks and define a clear path. Keep workers and bystanders clear of the lift area. Workers shouldn’t stand below the load at any point. Use barriers or signage to mark off the work zone so workers do not put themselves in danger. #worksafetyfirst @EAM CRANE AND EQUIPMENT 🦺 Competent Person for Lifting Operations (CPLO) 👷

To operate an EOT crane, skills are required, and along with that, we need to exercise caution while operating it, and there are some protocols related to it that must be followed. EOT cranes are used to lift heavy loads, and if not used correctly, it can lead to serious issues. Keeping these things in mind, safety precautions tips have been given. -> Training and certification:- Operators should be trained in operating EOT cranes, handling related issues, and ensuring that they can deal with any problem. They should be familiar with safety features. They should be certified professionals. -> Pre-operation inspection: There should be an inspection of anything related to the crane, checking if anything is broken or damaged, before the crane starts. -> Load capacity: Every crane has its own loading capacity, and you should never load more than its capacity, as it can lead to the risk of load imbalance. -> Proper rigging: It is essential to ensure that the rigging equipment for lifting any load by the crane is functioning correctly so that you can focus on safety by using the right technique. -> Clear communication: There should be proper communication among the workers, especially while working, whether they are operating a radio remote control or using any other equipment. -> Avoid overloading: Never overload the crane with a load or any object that has an awkward shape and can disrupt the balance. -> Slow and controlled movement: If we need to make any sudden changes in our work, we need to slow down the crane's movement to control sudden ups and downs. -> Emergency stop: Crane operators should know how to use the emergency stop button during emergencies or in case of any malfunction in any part of the crane. -> Observe surroundings: In the area around the crane, we should pay attention to ensure that there are no obstacles or any other items that could create hindrances. Caution should be exercised in such matters. We all know that due to these safety features, we can stay safe and avoid accidents or injuries. We all want a good safe environment in our work area, in our surroundings, so it is essential to follow safety protocols for heavy machines like cranes. #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyAwareness #SafetyAtWork #SafeWorkEnvironment #SafetyTraining #SafetyStandards

Tandem Lifting and Blind Lifting: 1. Tandem Lift: Definition: A tandem lift involves using two or more cranes to lift a single load. The cranes work in coordination to share the weight and balance of the load. Purpose: This type of lift is necessary for heavy, long, or awkward loads that cannot be safely handled by a single crane. Complexity: Precise synchronization between the cranes is required, including coordinated movement, load distribution, and alignment. A clear lifting plan and constant communication between crane operators are essential. Risks: As multiple cranes are involved, any miscommunication or unsynchronized movement can result in load instability, equipment failure, or accidents. Careful planning and coordination are crucial to ensure safety. 2. Blind Lift: Definition: A blind lift occurs when the crane operator cannot see the load or the landing area directly and must rely on signals or instructions from a rigger or signaler. Purpose: Blind lifts are often required in situations where the load is out of the operator's line of sight, such as behind structures, in confined spaces, or in complex environments like construction sites. Complexity: The operator must rely entirely on external guidance from a signaler using hand signals, radios, or other communication devices. Accurate communication is critical for safe execution. Risks: The primary risk is communication breakdown, which can lead to improper load positioning, collisions, or dropped loads if signals are unclear or misunderstood. #BlindLift #RiggingSafety #SafeCraneOperations #TandemLift #HeavyLifting ARUN KAKKANAT HAMZA Akram

Welcome to another installment of our Equipment Spotlight series! We're excited to showcase more of the machinery that powers our projects!👷 Today, we’re putting the spotlight on Cranes—the heavy lifters of any construction site. Cranes are irreplaceable on any construction site, from lifting small pieces of steel to placing dozers in hard to access areas. Here’s why they’re a crucial part of the team: ✅ Heavy-Duty Lifting: Cranes can hoist massive loads with ease, making them essential for building everything from bridges to high-rises. ✅ Reach for the Sky: Cranes give us the height we need to build tall structures and navigate complex job sites. ✅ Precision at Heights: With advanced tech, cranes offer precise control for smooth and safe operation, even on the toughest jobs. Crane operators often work in environments where radio communication is essential to operations. A crane is the difference between a task taking 1 hour vs. 5 minutes.

It's crazy how the simple task to inspect machinery prior to its operation is commonly missed. These simple but meaningful task can help prevent incidents just like this.
Crane operations are crucial for construction projects, but they come with significant safety responsibilities. Properly operated and maintained cranes prevent accidents and ensure safety. Inspecting cranes for wear, damage, or mechanical issues before each use is essential. Planning lifts carefully, verifying safety systems, and maintaining clear communication among all personnel are critical steps for safe operations. Ensuring load limits are not exceeded and securing the area around crane operations help prevent potential accidents. Emphasizing routine checks and a culture of safety is vital for protecting individuals and the project's integrity. 1moZac what are your thoughts about this remote control cabin system that certain sections of our industry are so enamoured with? Who is going to do the daily checks you so rightly list above, if the operator can just get out of his car and walk into the office sit down at the console and start work? 🤔
