Prepping is not a thing for Ugandan visual creatives atleast from my experience. They show up with zero preps and expect miracles. A basic prep is a must regardless of how small your gig might be. Accord the same amount of respect to any gig or assignment you have accepted to take on. Prepare physically and mentally, have backup solutions for all your equipment to avoid unnecessary panic attacks and embarassment in the presence of your clients.
