Joe Ravitch in 2022 said that European Sports teams could double in value in 5 years. Many on the continent sneered... Personally, I agree with him, but the question I have is how can we get there. If the model in Europe is now Mature and no longer in a growth stage what needs to happen. The US model in running a team commercially in Europe improves the basic fundamentals but leaves the upside untapped. Listen to the owners when they arrive - the expectation is to tap into the global audience, but does the model implemented achieve that? Build a new model, one where the fan - both local and distance - needs a commercial mindset that US sports teams do not require, because by rule they are not allowed to build direct-to-fan relationships beyond their local region.
